Predicted 4-4-2 West Ham XI to face Cardiff City in the Premier League
West Ham romped home with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Newcastle United in the last game and the Hammers will once again be the favourites to claim three points when they play host to Cardiff City on Tuesday night.
Manuel Pellegrini’s men are currently 13th in the standings with 15 points from 14 games and they will be looking to climb up the table when they face the Bluebirds.
Cardiff will be in high spirits after a 2-1 comeback win against Wolves last week but Neil Warnock’s men will be up against it in the away fixture against the Hammers.
Team News
Fabian Balbuena suffered a thigh injury in the last game and will be assessed ahead of Tuesday’s clash while Aaron Cresswell is unlikely to feature against Cardiff due to a hamstring issue.
Carlos Sanchez, Andriy Yarmolenko, Winston Reid and Manuel Lanzini are all long-term absentees.
Formation: 4-4-2
Manager: Manuel Pellegrini
Predicted XI
1. Lukasz Fabianski (GK)
The Polish veteran has been in great form between the sticks this season and has been one of the Hammers’ standout performers of the season so far.
2. Pablo Zabaleta (RB)
The Argentine veteran put in a solid shift at the back against Newcastle and has been quite good all season.
3. Issa Diop (CB)
The Frenchman has justified his huge price tag by putting in some solid performances in the heart of the defence.
4. Angelo Ogbonna (CB)
The injury to Balbuena might open the door for the Italian to get a start on Tuesday.
5. Artur Masuaku (LB)
He has been poor defensively but Pellegrini might be forced to field him in the absence of Cresswell.
6. Declan Rice (CDM)
The Irishman has been one of the revelations of the Premier League this season, playing as a shield for the rearguard and has kept things ticking in midfield with his good range of passing.
7. Mark Noble (CDM)
He is West Ham’s midfield engine and they will need him to be at the top of his game on Tuesday.
8. Robert Snodgrass (RM)
Set up Hernandez with a delightful cross in the last game and West Ham will be expecting something similar from him this time around.
9. Felipe Anderson (LM)
He should be in high spirits after finding the net in the last game and has always been a key figure in the final third this season.
10. Marko Arnautovic (ST)
He wasn’t at his best in the last game and West Ham will need him to fire on all cylinders if they are to claim three points against Cardiff.
