Anthony Leon “P. J.” Tucker Jr. was the 2006, Round 2, 35th overall draft pick by the Toronto Raptors. Tucker plays in the position of Power forward / Small forward and he is also the 2021 NBA champion.
Tucker played college basketball for the University of Texas from 2003 to 2006. Tucker had an excellent college career and was subsequently named a second-team All-American and the Big 12 Player of the Year (2006). He was also named to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team (2004).
After playing college basketball, Tucker was selected thirty-fifth overall in the 2006 NBA Draft by the Toronto Raptors. He signed a two-year deal with the Raptors on July 26, 2006.
Tucker played for the Toronto Raptors from 2006 to 2007. On the other hand, while playing for the Raptors, Tucker also played for the Colorado 14ers (now Texas Legends), the NBA G-League team.
Next, Tucker went to play in Europe and Israel. He played overseas from 2007 to 2012. In the 2007–08 season, Tucker joined Hapoel Holon, an Israeli Premier League team. Subsequently, he won the MVP trophy and led his team to the league title. Also, Tucker was the 2008 Israeli Basketball Premier League Finals MVP.
In the 2008–09 season, Tucker signed with BC Donetsk, a team from the Ukrainian Basketball Super League. Tucker then furthermore went on to play for Bnei HaSharon, and Aris BC.
In April 2011, Tucker signed with Sutor Basket Montegranaro in Italy. Then in July 2011, he signed a one-year deal with Brose Baskets Bamberg of Germany. Tucker helped Brose Baskets to win the 2012 championship; he also won the Finals MVP award.
In 2012, Tucker returned to the NBA and signed with the Phoenix Suns. Tucker played for the Phoenix Suns from 2012 to 2017. Notably, Tucker had many career-highs while playing for the Suns.
On February 23, 2017, Tucker was traded back to the Toronto Raptors. Tucker consequently finished the 2016-2017 season with the Raptors. He also played in the NBA Playoffs but could not win the championship.
Furthermore, on July 6, 2017, Tucker signed a four-year, $32 million contract with the Houston Rockets. Tucker played for the Rockets from 2017 to 2021. With the Rockets, Tucker went to the NBA Playoffs several times but could not win any championship.
On March 19, 2021, Tucker was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks. With the Bucks, Tucker won the 2021 NBA Championship. The Bucks defeated the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Finals.
On August 7, 2021, Tucker signed with the Miami Heat and played with the team for one season.
He later signed with the Philadelphia 76ers in 2022.
