Here is everything you need to know about the PJ Washington Child Support saga that has been doing the rounds of late
Sometime in the middle of 2020, PJ Washington of the Charlotte Hornets announced his relationship with Instagram fitness model Brittany Renner.
Several months down the line, in March 2021, the pair announced that they had a baby on the way soon.
A couple of months later Renner gave birth to a boy, in May 2021. However, things have gone unbelievably downhill from there.
As recently as last month, rumors of the pair having split began to circulate. They have indeed split, but the problems haven’t stopped there.
PJ Washington Bio
PJ Washington was born on the 23rd of August, 1998 in Louisville, Kentucky. He was picked as the 12th overall in 2019 NBA Draft Round 1 by the Charlotte Hornets.
He started off with a bang, scoring 7 three-pointers on his NBA debut, the most in the history of the league.
Washington has been a regular starter for the Hornets in both seasons. The first year he started 58 games, averaging 12.2 points per game with 5.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game to go by.
He bettered his first-year performance in the 2020-21 season with 12.9 points per game with 6.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists to go by. Washington started 64 games for the Hornets in the 2020-21 season.
PJ Washington Child Support: Hornets star was reportedly paying $200,000 per month in child support
Following his split from Renner, TMZ reported that Washington had also been paying a whopping $200,000 every month for child support.
Although, these rumors haven’t been confirmed, Washington himself revealed that Renner wasn’t allowing him to see their son.
$200,000 a month in child support will cost PJ Washington a staggering $2.4 million per year, which is believed to be 30 percent of his salary. According to TMZ, Washington will be making $14 million in the next two years.
However, Washington’s recent ‘tweet-and-delete’ seems to be a bit ambiguous, hinting that he might not be paying $200,000 after all.
Renner for her part, hasn’t commented on anything about the rumoured $200,000 Washington has been paying for child support every month.
With the NBA starting in a couple of months, this off-season episode between Washington and Renner has come out as one of the raging issues amidst the basketball community.
PJ Washington and ex-girlfriend Brittany Renner
Only last year did, PJ Washington and Brittany Renner announce that they were dating, and a year later their relationship is in dire straits.
They even had a pregnancy reveal photoshoot before the birth of their child. Each and every photo with PJ Washington has been removed from Renner’s Instagram profile (having 4.6million followers).
Renner is rumoured to have dated several American athletes, with NBA star James Harden, and former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick to name a few.
Her relationship with several men was well known to the public and PJ Washington still choosing her as his girlfriend was widely criticised by many, especially after the pair split.
In a recent video released on Twitter she can be heard hitting out at athletes:
“The worst people to deal with are athletes. None of them use condoms really. So, if y’all want to try and come up off a check from a man you could just hook an athlete. They’re really dumb.” [via Total Pro Sports]
