Niantic and the Pokemon Company have announced a new crossover event between Pokemon GO and Pokemon TCG. This event is brought out to promote the new and upcoming Pokemon Trading Card Game or just Pokemon TCG. We all loved collecting Pokemon trading cards as kids and now you can collect them digitally and play with them as well. With 2 new pokemon – Wimpod and Golisopod.
Moreover, the biggest attraction of this event is that Mewtwo is back! So grab your pokeballs and head out. It’s Raiding Time! Mewtwo is a 5-star boss and boy will it be difficult. For tips and tricks on how to beat Mewtwo check out Mewtwo Raid Guide.
Pokemon GO TCG Crossover Event – Research Tasks
Just like always, you will need to do a few tasks to unlock the rewards. Here is a list of all the tasks and the rewards you can get.

Best Wild Spawns
There are 3 classes of spawn pokemons:
- Wild Encounters – We have boosted spawns for Solrock and Lunatone along with other pokemons list given below
- Field Research – We have the second and third evolution of starter pokemon along with Pikachu TCG Edition, Wimpod, Snorlax, Dragonite, and Slaking.
- Raid Bosses – During Raids you can catch the new debut pokemon Wimpod, Larvitar, Timburr and Chansey for 1 star bosses.
How to get Shiny Meltan
The easiest way to get the Shiny Meltan is through a mystery box. Just follow these steps to get your own Mystery Box.
- Create a Pokemon Home account
- Link your Pokemon Home account to your Pokemon GO account from the settings in Pokemon GO
- Send a Pokemon from your Pokemon GO collection to Pokemon Home
- And that’s it! You will get a Mystery Box as a reward.
After getting a Mystery Box use it to activate Meltan spawns. But keep in mind that you can only use Mystery Box once in 3 days for only 1 hour.
How to get Platinum Medals
This is an event where there are boosted Pikachu spawns so try to catch 1000 Pikachu during this event to earn the Pikachu fan medal. Transfers also count as catches so you can ask a friend to transfer you some.
Another medal that is easy to collect is the Youngster medal. For that, you need to catch 1000 tiny Rattatas. Basically, only Rattatas that weigh less than 1.4 kg count as tiny Rattata so catch as many as you can. Also, transferring will be also counted towards the total count.
Next as Magikarp spawns have also been boosted you can target the Fisher medal and catch 1000 big Magikarp. A big Magikarp weighs more than 13.13 kg, so look out for their weight.
We also have the Rising Star medal for which you have to defeat 150 pokemon in raid battles. You should aim to complete this medal as this event has a lot of raid events.
