A new trailer was revealed for the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch game, Pokemon Arceus: Legends. Here is everything we know so far.
Pokemon Legends Arceus is a highly anticipated open-world Pokemon RPG that was revealed during the Pokemon Presents live stream in February 2021, which celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Pokemon franchise. More information about the game was revealed at another Pokemon Presents event on August 18. The remakes Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were also revealed along with the original game.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus will function as a prequel to the main series, transporting players to a much older version of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl’s Sinnoh region (known as the Hisui region), where Pokémon roamed freely and tasking them with completing one of the region’s first Pokédexes.
The Pokemon Company announced the official release date of the game back in May. The game will be released on 28 January 2022.
The latest Pokémon Legends: Arceus trailer revealed new information about the Hisui region and the Pokémon you encounter, including a new variety called Noble Pokemon, which are powerful creatures who are in a frenzy for unknown reasons. Wardens stand guard over these creatures, as the people of Hisui revere the terrifying titans. The most recent trailer also revealed more customization options, as well as the ability to photograph yourself and your favorite Pokémon.
The game will have the classic turn based combat system with the main goal being to complete the regional Pokedex. A change that has been brought to the combat system is to choose between strong and agile styles. The strong style will increase the power but will decrease the movement speed and the agile style will raise the pokemon’s movement speed but will reduce the move’s power.
For the first time in Pokemon games, there will be no new starters and all three starters will be from a different region and generation. You can choose the grass/flying-type Rowlet, fire-type Cyndaquil, or water-type Oshawott. Five new Pokemon from Pokemon Legends Arceus have also been revealed.
Wyrdeer is the evolved form of Stantler with snow white fur. The Basculin from the Hisui region evolves into Basculegion if they are possessed by the restless soul of another Basculin. Hisuian Braviary is psychic/flying pokemon that you will also use to fly around the region. Hisuian Growlithe has white fur and a horn made of rock on its head. The classic Pokemon Scyther gets a new evolution in the form of Kleavor, a rock/bug type pokemon with deadly arms. Kleaver is also one of the Noble Pokemon in the Hisui region.
