Pokemon TCG Astral Radiance revealed – Release Date, Price and Contents

Published by

Here is everything you need to know about the recently announced Pokemon TCG Astral Radiance pack.

After numerous leaks, The Pokemon Company has now announced that Sword & Shield: Astral Radiance will be the next expansion for the Pokemon Trading Card Game. The Hisui area and its Hisuian Pokemon variations will be included in this expansion, which is based on the newly released Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Dialga, Palkia, Arceus, and Darkrai all appear prominently on the box, indicating that the set is centered on the myths and tales of the Hisui region.

After a rush of sets near the end of 2021, this will be the second set for 2022. As a result, there may be considerable excitement about this one. It’ll most likely keep a new mechanic and card from VStar. The Pokemon that will obtain these VStar forms has yet to be disclosed, however it will most likely be Arceus from Pokemon Legends. This line of reasoning makes sense given the release of Pokemon Legends Arceus and the fact that this is a new mechanic.

Pokemon TCG Astral Radiance Release Date

Astral Radiance is expected to be released in May 2022. As Pokemon Scarlet and Violet were announced for release by the end of 2022, this will be the last of a long run of Sword and Shield sets.

Given that we’ve never actually seen Shiny versions in TCG form previously, the refreshed art for these cards is sure to be a major success. Those who play the card game will undoubtedly like the addition of a new mechanic.

Here’s some more information from The Pokémon Company on what to expect from the expansion:

Pokemon TCG Astral Radiance – Price

The pricing is in line with what we’ve seen in previous TCG expansions. Individual packs cost $3.99 each, while the popular Booster Box costs $143.64. The Elite Trainer Box, which will retail for $49.99 when it ships later this summer, is another option.

If you’re a VMAX Pokemon enthusiast, Astral Radiance may come as a disappointment because it only introduces two new VMAX Pokemon. VMAX was a key mechanic in the Sword & Shield series, but as we transition from Galar to Hisui and prepare for the new Scarlet and Violet era, we’ll likely see far fewer VMAX cards printed this year.

On May 27, Pokemon TCG: Sword & Shield – Astral Radiance will be released, with booster packs, booster boxes, and Elite Trainer Bundles as usual. Preorders for a Pokemon Center-exclusive Elite Trainer Box are also available on the Pokemon Center website.
