Pokemon TCG Live release date, platforms, gameplay, and more

Pokemon has announced the successor to its trading card game in the form of Pokemon TCG Live. Here is everything that we know about the game so far.

2021 marks the 25th anniversary of the hit game franchise. To celebrate this, the company has announced various events in Japan and the US. The company has also announced Pokemon TCG Live for ios and android. Pokemon TCG Live will be released to replace the currently existing Pokemon Trading Card Game.

The good news is that this game will be completely free to download and play on all platforms. Another important point to mention is that the game will support cross-platform play. This means that even if you’re on your mobile device and your friend is on his PC, you’ll be able to play the game together.

The Pokemon Company’s Vice President for Pokemon TCG Live, Barry Sams has stated that “Pokémon TCG Live will go hand in hand with the tabletop version that fans know and love.” Furthermore, he said that the game “welcomes a new era of digital play where Trainers around the world can play together regardless of their preferred platform.”

Pokemon TCG Live Release Date

Pokemon TCG Live will be released later this year as announced by the Pokemon company. The game will first have a soft launch in Canada for ios and android. A global open beta is also scheduled for PC and Mac users.

Pokemon TCG Live Currency

The Trading Card game will have 3 different types of currencies. All three currencies can be earned by completing quests and objectives in the game.

  • Coins – Coins are limited to being used on avatar and deck accessories like hats, glasses, deck boxes, and sleeves
  • Credits – You can transfer up to four copies of a unique Pokémon TCG card, one copy of an ACE SPEC or Prism Star card, one copy of each part of a Pokémon V-UNION card, and 59 copies of a basic Energy card from your existing Pokémon TCG Online account. The additional copies of Pokémon TCG cards can be converted into Credits, which can be redeemed for single cards to add to your collection.
  • Crystals – Crystals are used to acquire cards from the in-game shop to add to your collection, whether it be booster packs or single cards. You can also use crystals to upgrade your battle pass to the premium pass, allowing you to earn more prizes

New Features in Pokemon TCG Live

The game will carry over many of the existing game client’s features plus a bunch of new ones. TCG Live will add officially ranked modes to its existing casual gameplay, allowing more competitive players to compete against each other for prizes. At launch, there are eight pre-built decks, with the ability to create your own once you are familiar with the game.

Character Customization in Pokemon TCG Live

The game will have a Battle Pass system with some regular missions. Completing the Battle Pass will reward with in-game cosmetics, booster packs, and other goodies. You can now customise your avatar in more ways than ever before – TCG Live now includes skin tone, hairstyle, hair colour, and eye colour, as well as various clothing options such as tops, bottoms, glasses, hats, and shoes.
