So DIICOT Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism is the Romanian agency tasked with investigating and prosecuting organized crime and terrorism-related offences.

How did the DIICOT play a role in the arrest of Andrew Tate?
Former kickboxer Andrew Tate was arrested on suspicion of alleged human trafficking, rape and forming an organised crime group by police in Romania, with his brother Tristan. Tristan is a former kickboxing champion, holding the European title on several occasions.
The organization reportedly used the social media activity of the controversial star to find his location before his arrest. Several other reports claimed that police used recent social media posts from the Tate brothers to confirm their location ahead of a raid on their mansion.
DIICOT issued a statement, but it did not name the Tate brothers, they stated that two British citizens and two Romanian citizens were suspected of being part of a criminal group focused on human trafficking.
The statement said,
“Officers had identified six people who were “sexually exploited” by what it called an “organised criminal group”. Police said the victims were “recruited” by the British citizens, who they said had misrepresented their intention to enter into a relationship with the victims – which it called “the loverboy method. They were later forced to perform in pornographic content under threat of violence”.
Footage emerged yesterday of a handcuffed Andrew Tate, who rose to fame this year for his controversial videos which have been called misogynist and dangerous, being filmed being led from his luxury villa by police following a raid. His younger brother Tristan was also arrested along with two further suspects, with all four being held for 24 hours in Bucharest.
It also released a video of the raid, showing guns, knives, and money on display in one room. Tate moved to Romania five years ago.
Netizens on social media have speculated that Tate’s recent response video to Greta Thunberg, in which he receives pizza boxes from a Romanian restaurant played a pivotal role in the arrest.
