A daunting test awaits Southampton in the form of Manchester United in the midweek Premier League games. The Saints are in a bit of a rut as they look to bounce back from three straight losses, the last of which coming against Aston Villa.
Manchester United are also in indifferent form, with just two wins from their last five league games. Nonetheless, Southampton would fancy themselves in this fixture as Manchester United have lost 4 games at home this season.
There are quite a few injuries for Ralph Hasenhuttl to deal with. Nathan Tella, Michael Obafemi, Mohammed Salisu and Will Smallbone all remain out with injuries. With so little time between the two games, it is unlikely that any of the aforementioned names will make the cut.
The likes of Jannik Vestergaard and Kyle Walker-Peters could be doubtful as well. Not a lot of changes can be expected from the last outing with so many injuries.

With Vestergaard out, Stephens has deputised well in the last few games.

Not the best of games for Armstrong but will likely continue in his position.
The captain is a maestro with his set-pieces and will be hoping to inspire his team to a win here.
The former Chelsea man will be vital to his side’s chances of a victory if he can keep Bruno Fernandes in check.
Should be the Saints’ chief threat from the wider areas.
Ings remains his side’s best hope in the final third. Everyone will be looking to him for the goals.
He may not be as influential as Ings but his work rate cannot be faulted.
