Predicted Chelsea XI to face Wolves in the Premier League

Chelsea will have to dust themselves off after a defeat and prepare for an encounter with Wolves. The Blues were rather surprisingly outfoxed by Carlo Ancelotti’s men and lost their second league game of the season. They are in a bit of a rough patch, having won just two of their last five games.

Meanwhile, Wolves are also not in the best of shape as Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have only picked up the one win in their last five. A tricky game by all means, Chelsea will want to get back to winning ways sooner rather than later.

Team News

Hakim Ziyech has been out of action since the Leeds game and could well be out for another few weeks with a hamstring issue. Even Callum Hudson-Odoi is ruled out due to a hamstring problem and could return at the same time as Ziyech.

Christian Pulisic could return to the squad after being left out as a precaution against Everton. Other than that, Lampard will have the whole of this squad to pick from.

Probable Chelsea XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Edouard Mendy (GK)

An uncharacteristic error from the usually reliable keeper led to Everton’s penalty and only goal. Nonetheless, he retains his spot.

Reece James (RB)

Will likely continue in his position for the time being.

Kurt Zouma (CB)

The Frenchman has been an unlikely source of goals this season, yet remains as solid as ever at the back.

Thiago Silva (CB)

Remains to be seen if Silva is afforded another start as he has been regularly rotated this season.

Ben Chilwell (LB)

Chilwell has been the first choice and continues his duties at left-back.

Ngolo Kante (DM)

Solid as ever, will need to be on his toes for this game though.

Jorginho (DM)

Should come in place of Kovacic to provide some more defensive cover.

Mason Mount (AM)

Unlucky to have hit the post on so many occasions against Everton. Keeps his place in the side.

Kai Havertz (RW)

A quiet outing for Havertz. His form will be important if Chelsea are to get back to winning ways.

Timo Werner (LW)

With most of the wide players out for a while, Werner will have to play in a wider role for the time being.

Olivier Giroud (ST)

The veteran striker continues as the leading man for Lampard’s side and his regular flow of goals will be needed again.
