Predicted Everton XI to face Manchester United in the EFL Cup
Everton welcome Manchester United for an EFL Cup quarterfinal fixture at Goodison Park. The Toffees have been on a roll in recent games winning three league games on the bounce. On their way to the quarters, they have defeated the likes of Salford, Fleetwood and West Ham.
They will, however, face a tougher test as Manchester United have been one of the more in-form teams in the league. It will be a stern test of Ancelotti’s credentials and a win would go a long way in reaffirming those.
Team News
James Rodriguez has missed the last few games and could be out for this one as well. Fabian Delph, Allan, Lucas Digne and Jean-Philippe Gbamin are all ruled out too. Doubts remain over Seamus Coleman but he could return to the fold. Elsewhere, Andre Gomes might just miss this one with a hamstring injury.
Probable Everton XI
Formation: 4-3-3
Robin Olsen (GK)
Should come in place of Pickford as a part of rotation.
Seamus Coleman (RB)
Doubtful but with such a crucial game, he might just be thrown into the mix.
Mason Holgate (CB)
Returns to his favoured central role. Mina is likely to be the one to drop out.
Michael Keane (CB)
Likely to retain his place in the XI after a good showing in the last game.
Ben Godfrey (LB)
Continues in his full-back role due to Digne’s injury. Hasn’t done much wrong playing out of position.
Tom Davies (DM)
Tom Davies could be given an extended run in the side with the likes of Allan and Gomes being out for the time being.
Abdoulaye Doucoure (CM)
Doucoure has been in good form in the last few games and retains his place.
Gylfi Sigurdsson (CAM)
Has been Everton’s main creative outlet in the absence of James Rodriguez. Likely to continue until he returns.
Bernard (RW)
Should get a chance in this game. Has hardly featured in the last few games.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin (ST)
Not in the best of goalscoring forms but will fancy his chances against a shaky Manchester United backline.
Richarlison (LW)
One of the most important players for his side. Even if he is not on the score sheet, his efforts cannot be ignored.
