Predicted Man United XI to face Bournemouth in the Premier League

Manchester United booked their place in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup with a 2-1 victory over Chelsea on Wednesday, thanks to a brace from Marcus Rashford.

The Red Devils put an end to their woeful away record in the Premier League with a 3-1 victory over Norwich City last week and they will be looking to build on their newly-found form when they travel to the south coast to face Bournemouth on Saturday.

Bournemouth have played out goalless draws against Norwich and Watford in their last two league outings and Eddie Howe’s men will be looking for their first victory over the Red Devils since December 2015.

Team News

Luke Shaw is edging closer to full fitness but is unlikely to be risked for the trip to Bournemouth, while Eric Bailly (knee), Paul Pogba (ankle), Axel Tuanzebe (hip), Timothy Fosu-Mensah (knee) and Diogo Dalot (groin) are all ruled out.

Despite having picked up minor knocks against Chelsea in the EFL Cup, Harry Maguire and Rashford are both expected to start at the weekend. (h/t Express)

United fielded a five-man defence in their last three games against the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Partizan but Solskjaer is expected to revert to a traditional back-four on Saturday.

Predicted XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

David de Gea (GK)

The Spaniard has been the undisputed first-choice for United for a number of seasons and he will definitely replace Sergio Romero on the teamsheet.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka (RB)

The youngster has proven himself to be an inspired addition to United’s backline this season and is likely to retain his position at right-back.

Victor Lindelof (CB)

The Swedish international was substituted in the EFL Cup tie but that was just precautionary and he is expected to feature at the back on Saturday.

Harry Maguire (CB)

The England international is yet to hit top gear at Old Trafford but he has done a decent job for the Red Devils at the heart of the defence.

Ashley Young (LB)

The veteran only played a cameo in the cup tie but he has been a regular fixture on the left due to the injury to Shaw and Solskjaer is likely to put him back in the playing eleven in place of Brandon Williams.

Fred (CDM)

The Brazilian was an influential presence in the middle of the park in the victory over Chelsea and is expected to retain his spot, with Matic yet to be declared fit.

Scott McTominay (CDM)

The young Scotsman has really come of age with a number of standout performances for United in the midfield and there shouldn’t be any doubts regarding his selection.

Marcus Rashford (LW)

The academy graduate kept his composure from the penalty spot and followed it up with an absolute stonker of a free-kick to propel United to victory over Chelsea.

Andreas Pereira (CAM)

The Brazilian has usurped the likes of Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata in the pecking order, having started the last seven Premier League games for the Red Devils.

Daniel James (RW)

The Welsh starlet has been forced to switch to a wide right role in recent weeks, with Rashford playing down the left, but he has looked equally effective with his pace and accurate crossing.
