Predicted Manchester United XI to face Chelsea in the FA Cup

Manchester United play host to face Chelsea on Sunday as the two sides are meeting in a crunch FA Cup semifinal fixture at Old Trafford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men are unbeaten in the last 19 games across all competitions and look to be spectacular form since the restart. However, nothing but a win would ensure them a place in the finals as they aim for silverware this term. They have been brilliant in recent weeks and should be able to overcome the Blues.

Chelsea, on the other hand, haven’t been at their best but this fixture will not be an easy task for United as the Blues would also be looking to go all out.

Team News

The manager would be satisfied to see most of his main players available for selection on Sunday, except for Luke Shaw, who hurt his ankle in the game against Southampton. He is doubtful for the game but Brandon Williams could be back after missing out on the trip to Selhurst Park. Axel Tuanzebe and Phil Jones will be the other absentees from the side.

Probable Man United XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Sergio Romero (GK)

The Argentine shot-stopper has featured in limited games in the league but has been the first-choice in goal for United in the other cup competitions. He is likely to start ahead of David De Gea to face Chelsea.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka (RB)

The former Crystal Palace man missed the two games prior to this one in the competition. But he should get the nod ahead of Diogo Dalot for this crunch fixture. Wan-Bissaka needs to improve his crosses, which could benefit United at the other end.

Harry Maguire (CB)

The English ace will be leading the team from the back and needs to be at his commanding best against the likes of Tammy Abraham or Olivier Giroud.

Eric Bailly (CB)

Bailly has been in sensational form since his return from injury. He started the last two FA Cup games for the team though he has played less this season. He should start ahead of Victor Lindelof on Sunday.

With Shaw being doubtful for the game, Williams is the obvious choice at left-back. The youngster’s rise to the top has been rather swift and he is capable of doing well at both ends of the pitch.

Nemanja Matic (CM)

The Serbian international has been one of the best players in the team since the restart. He would be key in nullifying Chelsea’s attack and should be able to protect the backline.

Paul Pogba (CM)

The World Cup winner is one of the key players for United and his presence has been a massive boost. He will be an undoubted starter.

Mason Greenwood (RW)

The teenager is currently enjoying a productive breakthrough season. He has been picked regularly in recent times and has justified his selection. Though he wasn’t able to score in the last two outings, he is expected to make it on Sunday.

Bruno Fernandes (AM)

Fernandes has changed the dynamics of the Red Devils’ game since his arrival and has been the creative spark of the team. He will be key in breaking open the Blues defence and must be able to create enough opportunities.

The Frenchman will be the lone striker and given his run of form of late, he should manage to score a few more and take his side into the finals.
