Predicted Manchester United XI to face Istanbul Basaksehir in the Champions League

Manchester United return to European duties with their third group stage game versus Istanbul Basaksehir. While it has been a nightmare in the Premier League for the Red Devils, they have enjoyed a fantastic start to the Champions League, with two wins from two games.

Basaksehir, on the other hand, have lost their opening two games against RB Leipzig and PSG. They are, however, in good form domestically, with a win over Konyaspor in the last game. Expect a cagey affair between the two teams.

Team News

Eric Bailly is ruled out with another long-term injury. The other confirmed absentee is Jesse Lingard. Alex Telles was diagnosed with COVID, which rules him out for the next few games. Solskjaer threw quite a curveball with his team selection against Leipzig and more changes from the Arsenal game can be on show.

Probable Manchester United XI

Formation: 4-1-2-1-2

David De Gea (GK)

Back to back clean sheets for De Gea in the Champions League. The Spaniard was at his usual best and that bodes well.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka (RB)

Wan-Bissaka shrugged off his early season struggles to produce a stellar defensive display and continues at right-back.

Axel Tuanzebe (CB)

Hasn’t featured much since the PSG game but might be given the nod in this one.

Harry Maguire (CB)

Captain Maguire is slowly putting behind his problems to provide some solid showings at the back.

Luke Shaw (LB)

The Englishman is playing well at the moment, both in defence and attack.

Nemanja Matic (DM)

Should return to the line-up after just playing a substitute role versus Arsenal. Will be important in shielding the back-four.

Fred (CM)

There is something you need to appreciate about Fred and that is his commitment to the cause. He has been starting the last few games and rightfully so.

Donny Van De Beek (AM)

The Dutchman is expected to be given a start, much like the Leipzig game. Will be hoping to continue with his good showings.

Paul Pogba (CM)

Pogba might not be in the best books of many United fans given that his error pretty much gifted Arsenal all three points. Yet, he is expected to line up for this one.

Anthony Martial (ST)

His domestic suspension is finally over but he was featuring in the midweek games anyway. He is expected to replace Rashford, who cut a frustrating figure in the last game.

Mason Greenwood (ST)

That goal might have been a huge sigh of relief for the youngster as he was out of the team for a while. Now that he is back and running, he will likely be given a good run of games.
