Predicted Manchester United XI to face Leicester City in the Premier League
For the one last time in the league this season, Manchester United travel to the Midlands as they are set to face Leicester City on Sunday at the King Power Stadium.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men haven’t been at their best in the last couple of weeks and have a huge task on the final day. A draw would help them seal a spot in the Champions League next season but winning the last fixture would be helpful in terms of confidence.
On the other hand, Leicester will also be hoping to get maximum points to secure their place in the top four and this will not be an easy game for United.
Team News
Eric Bailly hurt his head in the game against Crystal Palace and is likely to miss the game on Sunday. Luke Shaw is doubtful for the game as he hasn’t returned since his injury against Southampton. Axel Tuanzebe and Phil Jones are long-term absentees and are set to continue on the sidelines.
Probable Man United XI
Formation: 4-2-3-1
David De Gea (GK)
The Spaniard did well in the last outing but couldn’t keep a clean sheet. He is the first-choice shot-stopper and will retain his spot.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka (RB)
The youngster has enjoyed a successful debut season at Old Trafford. He was out of the starting XI against West Ham but should be given the nod ahead of Timothy Fosu-Mensah.
Harry Maguire (CB)
Maguire still needs to improve despite a decent show against the Hammers. He will be leading the team from the back and needs to be at the top of his game to keep Vardy & co. quiet for 90 minutes.
Victor Lindelof (CB)
The Swedish international has established himself under Solskjaer but needs to do well in crunch situations. He will be partnering Maguire in the heart of United’s defence and should help the team keep a clean sheet.
Brandon Williams (LB)
Shaw’s absence has been fruitful for the academy graduate. He needs to grab his opportunities and prove a point to his manager. He is expected to start against Leicester.
Nemanja Matic (CM)
The Serbian did not have the best of the evenings against the Hammers. But he has enough experience and that should put him above Fred and Scott McTominay in the manager’s plans. He will be key in breaking Leicester’s attack.
Paul Pogba (CM)
Pogba has been one of the best players in the squad since the restart but his error cost United a couple of points in the last outing. He needs to link up well with Bruno Fernandes and create enough goalscoring opportunities.
Mason Greenwood (RW)
The teenage sensation added one more goal on Wednesday, taking his tally to 17 for the season. His performance will be much depended upon in this game. He should definitely start if United are to score enough on Sunday.
Bruno Fernandes (AM)
The Portuguese playmaker is an undisputed starter and needs to do better than what he did in the last two fixtures. A lot will be expected from him to take the Red Devils to the Champions League.
Marcus Rashford (LW)
The 22-year-old has lacked the intensity he had shown prior to the suspension of the games. Rashford is United’s joint-highest goalscorer and should manage to contribute more on Sunday.
