Goyer has revealed more live-action incarnations of characters from Asimov’s books will appear, such as Hober Mallow, Bel Riose, and Yanna Seldon; new characters Gaal and Salvor will also join this season.

Apple TV+’s original sci-fi series Foundation, inspired by Isaac Asimov’s short stories about rebels battling an intergalactic empire, debuted last June 2021 and completed in June 2022. Now its second run of episodes begins airing this Friday (July 14th). To build anticipation for its return, Apple released an eye-catching official trailer today that can be found below.
Season two’s premiere will pick up 100 years after the events of season one’s finale, as the Cleon Dynasty begins to disintegrate and exiled lovers of psychohistory plan an uprising inspired by religious extremism. Foundation heroes must deal with an assassin plotting against them from within as well as Gaal Dornick feeling betrayed by her digital ghost – plus Hari Seldon working on creating an even bigger Second Foundation than even Empire officials are aware of! Goyer teases that Goyer plans revealing it even to himself during season 2.
Apple TV+’s new episodes will showcase multiple incarnations of Harris’ character as Seldon projects his consciousness into various hologram avatars in order to escape death and protect the Second Foundation. Harris has discussed his challenges of performing each different virtual character convincingly; Goyer has disclosed how the show uses several tools, including flowcharts and Post-it notes, in order to stay on course.

The second season picks up 100 years after season 1’s conclusion and finds Lee Pace as Brother Day preparing to wage war on Hari Seldon’s Foundation, led by Hari Seldon himself and Hari’s followers – many more of them this time! Additionally, new characters are joining them such as Gaal Dornick (Lou Llobell).

Foundation Season Two’s two-minute trailer may feature stunning special effects, but its 10-episode second season focuses on more substantial issues than its predecessor. Season two sees the Foundation take an enormous leap in time as they head towards the Second Crisis and introduce numerous new characters – most notably Lee Pace reprising his role as middle “brother” Cleon clone, but there will also be former military fleet general Bel Riose (Ben Daniels), Han Solo-like interplanetary trader Hober Mallow (Dimitri Leonidas) and dictatorial planet ruler Commdor Argo (Philip Glenister).
At the conclusion of season 1, Hari Seldon’s math prodigy Gaal Dornick (Lou Llobell) was unexpectedly awakened from her cryo-pod on Synnax by an underwater beacon and given access to open a vault on Terminus by one of Hari’s last remaining disciples, Salvor Hardin (Jared Harris).
