Qinwen Zheng was born in Shiyan, Hubei, but during her early years, she often stayed at her maternal grandmother’s house in Chengdu, Sichuan, which is her mother’s hometown. At the age of three, she began a new chapter in her life by moving to Wuhan for her training.
As of now, Qinwen Zheng’s romantic life remains private, and she is not in a relationship. She has also chosen to maintain a level of privacy regarding her personal life, including details about her parents, who have been a significant source of support and motivation throughout her tennis career, keeping these aspects away from the public eye.
There are no records of Zheng’s past relationships either. Despite having a vast global fanbase, it appears that she remains elusive when it comes to matters of the heart. The tennis player has consistently maintained a high level of privacy regarding her personal life. Furthermore, her social media presence doesn’t offer any clues about her romantic inclinations. During her leisure time, she dedicates herself to her training and carefully avoids any associations with individuals that may raise eyebrows.
Qinwen Zheng reached her career-best singles ranking of 19th in the world, as recognized by the WTA on May 22, 2023. She boasts an impressive track record, with a WTA Challenger win and eight ITF singles titles to her name. Her exceptional performance earned her the title of 2022 WTA Newcomer of the Year.
Additionally, she clinched her first-ever WTA Tour championship at the 2023 Palermo Ladies Open. In 2021, she emerged victorious at the Tennis Future Hamburg in Germany, where she defeated Linda Fruhvirtová in the final of the $25k event, hosted by the Hamburger Tennis-Verband. Qinwen Zheng’s winning streak continued as she secured the title at the $60k Macha Lake Open in Staré Splavy, triumphing over Aleksandra Krunić in straight sets.
In 2023, she reached a significant milestone when she advanced to the fourth round of the Italian Open, securing a victory over Taylor Townsend along the way. This remarkable performance was followed by another triumph over her compatriot Wang Xiyu, earning her a place in the quarterfinals of a prestigious WTA 1000 tournament. Notably, this marked her first appearance in a clay court quarterfinal and her second career quarterfinal.
This outstanding achievement propelled her to a career-best ranking of No. 19 in the WTA rankings, making her the fifth Chinese player in history to break into the top 20. The first four Chinese players to accomplish this feat, in order of their career-high rankings, were Li Na (No. 2), Wang Qiang (No. 12), Peng Shuai (No. 14), and Zheng Jie (No. 15).
