Rafael Nadal is one of the greatest tennis players in the world and does a lot of charitable work thanks to the Rafa Nadal Foundation

Spanish ace Rafael Nadal might have been in the news recently for participating in the Match for Africa, but he has done a lot of work for his Rafa Nadal Foundation too.

Apart from opening a tennis centre in his village, the Spaniard has also launched a few Rafa Nadal Academies, the latest being in the Middle East.

The Match for Africa raised funds for the Roger Federer Foundation, but Nadal also has his own foundation that works with disadvantaged children.

It has helped thousands of children in Spain and India over the years, and the 19-time Grand Slam champion highlighted what values are imbibed into the students and participants.

Nadal posted a long message on Instagram and Twitter, which was in Spanish, and explained how he was helping those in need.

The message, translated from Google, read:

“I know there is much that can be learned through sport. I know from my own experience

“That is why in the projects of my foundation @frnadal we use sports practice to transmit and strengthen values such as respect, effort, companionship or equality in children and young people.”

The Rafa Nadal Foundation website shared some special numbers regarding the work they have done over the years.

They helped 700+ beneficiaries in 2019 alone and have helped 5000+ children and young people from across the world.

Nadal is a great person on and off the court, and it is fantastic that he is using his fame to help those who are in need.

Match for Africa raises big money

The Match for Africa 2020 was another example of Nadal going out of his way to use tennis and help people.

Roger Federer was his rival in the singles game while Trevor Noah and Bill Gates joined the charity game.

It was Federer that came out on top in both the games, but the result wasn’t important as the matches raised over $3million for the Roger Federer Foundation.
