Rainbow Six Siege Reputation System Beta: Update on Balancing and Upcoming Changes

Published by

The Rainbow Six Siege Reputation System Beta changes how players can reach each Standing level. Here’s the complete info.

The Rainbow Six Siege development team is still working to improve the Reputation System Beta. This is a work in progress that aims to make the game’s community more upbeat and respectful. After Year 9 Season 1 (Y9S1) came out, Ubisoft put out an update with important lessons learned, changes made, and plans for the future of the system. Here’s everything you need to know about the Rainbow Six Siege Reputation System Beta.

Lessons Learned from Y9S1

When the Rainbow Six Siege Reputation System Beta was first rolled out in Y9S1, problems were found that needed to be fixed. Here is a list of the most important things to remember and what to do next:

  • Communication Penalties: Players were getting communication fines for voice chat and written chat at a higher rate than expected, according to the data. Because of this, Ubisoft has briefly turned off these penalties. The feature will come back once coders take more steps to make sure it is applied fairly and give players a clear way to get better.
  • Commendation System Fix: An issue initially prevented Commendations from accurately reflecting on a player’s Standing. This has been addressed, ensuring Commendations now have a prompt and proper impact.
  • Console Reporting Bug: Due to a bug, too many voice chat reports showed up in the Reputation Center on platforms. Misconduct reports like “Griefing” and “Voice Abuse” were also put in the wrong category. These problems were fixed by a patch that was released on March 21.

Rainbow Six Siege Reputation System Balancing Update

A balancing fix for the Reputation System was also added in Y9S1. This meant changing the system’s internal weights and buttons to make it clearer how players can reach each Standing level. Also, the five Reputation Standings have been changed to make them more clear:

  • Exemplary: Represents exceptional and consistently positive behavior.
  • Esteemed: Reflects positive contributions to the Siege community.
  • Respectable: Considered the ideal standing, indicating respectful and cooperative play.
  • Disruptive: Suggests behavior that occasionally detracts from the overall Siege experience.
  • Dishonorable: Reflects a pattern of negative behavior requiring significant improvement.

The aim is for a player’s Standing to accurately mirror their in-game actions. Currently, many players will find themselves in the “Respectable” bracket, signifying positive contributions to the community. This is the intended core standing for the majority of players.

How the reputation works

Ubisoft is actively working on further improvements based on player feedback:

  • Strengthening Standing Metrics: More steps are being taken by the development team to make a player’s Standing stronger. In addition to player reviews, other factors will be taken into account to get a fuller picture of how players are acting.
  • Refined Communication Penalties: Ubisoft is developing further safeguards to ensure communication penalties are only applied when necessary. The goal is to create a system players can trust and understand.
  • Delayed Standing Impacts: In-game penalties based on Reputation Standings were supposed to come out in Y9S2, but they have been pushed back because they need to be improved even more. This wait lets more work be done to make sure the system is fair and balanced. Before it comes out fully with Standing Impacts, the Reputation System will still be in Beta.
  • Transparency and Player Feedback: Ubisoft remains committed to open communication regarding the Reputation System. They will share more details about the future release of Standing Impacts and continue to actively seek player feedback as the system evolves.

Conclusion

Ubisoft is working hard to make Rainbow Six Siege a good and welcoming place to play. The Rainbow Six Siege Reputation System Beta is an example of this. Ubisoft wants to make a system that successfully reduces toxicity and lets everyone enjoy the game by fixing initial imbalances, adding more safety measures, and putting player feedback first. While the Rainbow Six Siege Reputation System Beta is still going on, players can expect more news and changes.
