Rangers prediction: Probable Gers XI to face St. Mirren in the Premiership
Having exited from the Europa League, Rangers will now be looking to do well when they face St. Mirren on Sunday at home in a Scottish Premiership encounter.
Since returning to action, Steven Gerrard’s men haven’t been at their and that could be a problem in their hopes to end Celtic’s dominance. They need to take maximum points from the game with a comfortable victory.
On the other hand, Jim Goodwin’s men will be looking to capitalize on the good start to the new season and salvage a point form this fixture.
Team News
While most of Rangers’ key players are available for selection on Sunday, Jermain Defoe and Nikola Katic will remain on the sidelines as they are recovering from their respective injuries.
Formation: 4-3-3
Allan McGregor (GK)
He is the first-choice shot-stopper for Gerrard’s side and is expected to continue in goal. After the Europa League exit, he would be hoping to keep a clean sheet on Sunday.
James Tavernier (RB)
The Englishman was not at his usual best and needs to improve his game. He will be leading the team from the back. And should be able to help the team in the attack.
Connor Goldson (CB)
Goldson was the best player on the pitch against Bayer Leverkusen. He is one of the mainstays at the back and will retain his spot.
Leon Balogun (CB)
After missing out on the last game, he should be back in the starting XI to face St. Mirren. He was brilliant in their first league game of the new season and should partner Goldson at the heart of Gers’ defence.
Borna Barisic (LB)
One of the best players in the squad, Barisic needs to be at his best at both ends of the pitch. He will be a key player while joining the team’s attack and should pose a threat with his crosses for the attackers.
Ryan Jack (CDM)
The Scottish international should retain his spot and will be expected to see out The Buddies’ attack. He will be operating from a deeper position.
Steven Davis (CM)
The Irishman’s experience will be much depended upon. He did a decent job against Leverkusen and should get the nod ahead of the others.
Joe Aribo (CM)
Aribo was unimpressive in the Europa League fixture but he is expected to retain his spot as he has been a regular member under Gerrard. He should look to get back to his best and help the team in their attack.
Ianis Hagi (RW)
The Romanian came on from the bench in the last outing and performed well. He should be given the nod ahead of Brandon Barker on Sunday.
Ryan Kent (LW)
The former Liverpool man has been a crucial member of the Gers’ attack since his arrival. He will be an undoubted starter.
