Rangers vs Hibernian prediction: Rangers line-up
Rangers squandered a chance to get closer to their rivals Celtic as they picked up just one point from the last two games.
On Wednesday, Steven Gerrard and his men will be hosting Hibernian FC at the Ibrox and would be hoping to take maximum points from the game. Since the start of the year, they haven’t been at their best and will need to make a shift in their performance.
On the other hand, Jack Ross’s men have also lost points in their last two games and Rangers need to be at their best to get over the line.
Team News
Rangers face a blow with Filip Helander set be out for another four weeks and Ryan Jack’s calf injury will see him miss the action on Wednesday. Jermaine Defoe will also miss the game against Hibernian due to a calf injury.
Glenn Middleton, who picked an injury in the reserves games two weeks back, is set to be on the sidelines for quite a while.
Probable Rangers XI
Formation: 4-3-3
Allan McGregor (GK)
The 37-year-old saved the Gers from a defeat in the last outing. He has been perfect throughout the season and should retain his spot.
Matt Polster (RB)
After spending the majority of the season on the bench, Polster has found his chances ahead of the captain.
Nikola Katic (CB)
The Croatian was not at his best against The Dons. He needs to be more careful and should start against Hibernian.
Connor Goldson (CB)
The Englishman has featured in every possible minute in the Premiership so far and as usual, he will be taking charge at the heart of the defence alongside Katic.
Borna Barisic (LB)
Since the new year, Barisic hasn’t been himself. He was poor in the last outing but will retain his spot as he is the only left-back available for Rangers.
Glen Kamara (LCM)
An ever-present member in the midfield, the Finnish international needs to step up his game without giving away the ball easily, as he did in the last.
Steven Davis (CDM)
Despite putting in one of his best performances in the last outing, Davis has not been influential. He will start in the absence of Ryan Jack and will be key to stop the opponent’s attack.
Joe Aribo (RCM)
The 23-year-old Nigerian wasn’t visible in the game against Aberdeen in the right-wing. He should be started in the midfield, where he could be more influential.
Ryan Kent (LW)
The former Liverpool man is expected to retain his spot and must try to contribute with an assist or two from the wing.
Scott Arfield (RW)
The Canadian International has been a regular under Gerrard either in midfield or as a winger. He was the only bright spot in the previous fixture and will be key in unlocking the opponent’s defence.
Alfredo Morelos (ST)
The Colombian talisman will lead the attack as usual and would be hoping to add to his tally of 12 league goals.
