Football superstar Toni Kroos has hailed Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas as the next Roger Federer

Tsitsipas is considered as one of the ‘Next Gen’ stars of tennis and has 4 ATP titles to his name at just 21 years of age. Tsitsipas Federer

Real Madrid midfielder Kroos made such a statement while addressing his fans during an “AskToni” session organised in social media handle Twitter.

Kroos, the 2014 World Cup winner with Germany, had tweeted his reply to a question posed by a fan. The question read: “Who do you think can be a successor to Roger Federer? #askToni”, to which Kroos gave the following reply: “Tsitsipas”.

Kroos, meanwhile, has been a tennis fan apart from his love and has in the past admitted his admiration for his favourite tennis player – Roger Federer.

Kroos’ reply soon attracted large numbers as tennis fans and followers took to the social media handle to discuss their opinions regarding the German’s statement.

Tsitsipas to team up with brother Petros

Stefanos Tsitsipas will team up with his brother Petros Tsitsipas for the upcoming Marseilles doubles events after the pair was offered a wild card entry.

The Tsitsipas brothers made their ATP debut as a pair last year in Marseille and are now set to make consecutive appearances in the tournament. Tsitsipas and his brother faced formidable opponents Sander Arends and Tristan-Samuel Weissborn in the first-round as they Greek pair lost the match 6-1 7-5.

It would be even tougher this year as the brothers face top-seed Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies in their Marseille opener.

Meanwhile, Stefanos Tsitsipas, considered as one of the ‘Next Gen’ stars, has not had the best of times recently. The 21-year-old who has 4 ATP titles to his name, crashed out of the Australian Open recently followed by a Round of 16 loss at the Rotterdam Open adding to his set of woes.
