Rex White Car Collections

Rex White caught the attention of everyone by winning the NASCAR Sportsman Division as a rookie in 1954. He drove a 1937 model Ford in that race. White’s first car in the NASCAR Cup Series was Chevrolet. He also won the 1960 NASCAR Cup Series with his Chevrolet Impala. Rex White also drove Mercury vehicles for teams like Bud Moore Engineering. In the 1961 season, White drove a Pontiac car for White-Clements Racing. Rex White competed in two Daytona 500 events where he drove Chevrolet cars.

Throughout his career, Rex White drove his iconic Gold and White Chevrolet cars. His Chevrolet was called Yellow Thunder. Rex White’s personal car collections include replicas of his Chevrolet Impala and Ford cars. He also owned vintage stock cars in his garage. White also owned a diecast replica of his 1940 #X A&R Ford Coupe. This car was displayed at NASCAR Collectables.

Rex White Car Accidents

In NASCAR, many drivers suffered minor and major accidents during their career. Some racers lost their lives to accidents as well. Rex White didn’t suffer major injuries in crashes till his retirement. He was part of small incidents, but he managed to survive without damage.

The only known incident of Rex White was the 1963 Old Dominion 500 race at Martinsville Speedway. White’s car was damaged on lap 183 and he could not complete the event. Some reports also revealed he was involved in another crash at Spartanburg in 1957. White’s car flipped and it caught fire. The report also revealed Fireball Roberts rescued Rex White.

Rex White was one of NASCAR’s drivers who used multiple car numbers. In his debut NASCAR Cup season, White’s numbers were #10 and X. He used these numbers in his Chevrolet. White also drove a #X Ford vehicle. In the following seasons, Rex White drove Chevrolet vehicles with numbers like #4, #11, #40, #70, #74, #47, and #44. Rex White also drove #4 Mercury and Chevrolet vehicles. White also drove #47 Pontiac for White-Clements Racing.

Rex White’s number for the Daytona 500 events for #4 Chevrolet. In the 1960 NASCAR Cup Series, Rex White was the #4 Chevrolet and he won the title in the same vehicle. Rex White’s lucky car number in NASCAR was #4 as he secured most wins including the championship as well. His cars had paint schemes from Kodak, Louis Clements, and Sherwood Chevrolet. White’s successful stint in NASCAR helped him secure sponsors easily.
