Ricardo Rodriguez Career
He started wrestling for independent California promotions, Rodriguez wrestled with other upcoming wrestlers in backyards for BBW Beyond Backyard Wrestling.
He started wrestling as a masked wrestler under the ring name Chimaera, and his professional wrestling debut came at UEW’s 1st Annual West Coast Cruiser Cup Tournament on August 11, 2006.
He wrestled for various independent promotions like DWA, NWPW, Fit Pit Pro Wrestling, CWZ, NWPW, NWT/NTLL, BPW, the West Coast Wrestling Company, Vendetta Pro, and in both IWL and LLII as Jesse Long.
He finally made his journey towards WWE as a wrestler first. Ricardo debuted for Florida Championship Wrestling on December 2, 2010, in a ten-man tag team match.
In the same year, he became an announcer and debuted on SmackDown as a personal ring announcer to Alberto Del Rio. The latter also helped him win matches by distracting his opponents.
Rodriguez was involved in wrestling as well, during the feud with John Cena and Bret Hart. During a TLC match, Rodriguez tried to help Del Rio regain the WWE Championship, Rodriguez even climbed to the top of the ladder in the ring, but CM Punk and The Miz tipped the ladder over such that Rodriguez fell out of the ring and crashed at a table at ringside. This fall was described as dangerous and scary looking.
After Del Rio attacked Rodriguez, he started working for Rob Van Dam. He was forced to wrestle Del Rio as well. Van Dam’s and Ricardo’s alliance ended after the feud with Del Rio.
Rodriguez departed from WWE and debuted for WWC, where he won the WWC Puerto Rico Heavyweight Championship. However, he lost the title in a few days and then debuted for Mexican promotion AAA.
In September 2015, Rodriguez was hired as a trainer for The Great Khali’s wrestling school in Punjab, Continental Wrestling Entertainment. In addition, he is now a part of the Spanish commentary for the All Elite Wrestling.
