With various different characters with a variety of abilities, we decided to make a Risk of Rain 2 tier list. Find out the best characters in the game!
Risk of Rain 2 is a game published by Gearbox Publishing and created by Hopoo Games. The game is a third-person shooter with Roguelike elements. Both single-player and multiplayer modes are available in the game. Though the game was officially published on August 11, 2020, it was first made available for early access in 2019 on platforms such as Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
In September of 2020, the game was released on Stadia. Controlling a character or survivor stuck on an Alien Planet progresses the gameplay. To live, the character must travel through diverse settings, slaying creatures and looting chests for goods that will improve their defensive and offensive powers. Here is our Risk of Rain 2 Tier List.
Risk of Rain Tier List

B | Engineer, Rex |
C | Acrid |
D | Commando |
S Tier
- Bandit – In the current meta, Bandit is one of the most flexible Survivors. His abilities allow him to launch sneaky assaults that deal a lot of damage. Bandit, but at the other hand, has a pretty high skill ceiling, therefore mastering his character’s peculiarities may take some time.
- Captain – Captain is one of the game’s finest damage dealers. The capabilities of his shotgun allow him to be lethal at both close and long ranges. Captain also has various crowd control abilities that you can use in an emergency.
- Heretic – In Risk of Rain 2, there is a hidden playable character named Heretic. She is the Survivor with the highest base health, damage, and speed, making her incredibly valuable in any situation. The only caveat is that her health regeneration is negative. This implies that her health deteriorates with time.
- Loader – Another excellent damage dealer is Loader. Though she doesn’t have Captain’s damage potential, she more than makes up for it with her mobility. She has the ability to attract foes to her or draw herself to a larger target, enabling her to be one of the greatest Survivors for navigating a congested level.
A Tier
- Artificer – Another powerful damage dealer is Artificer. Her mage-like skills allow her to deal sustained damage to opponents from afar. But she’s in A-Tier because the items you find will have a big impact on your run with her. You won’t be able to optimise her damage output without items like the Backup Magazine, Brainstalks, or a Bandolier.
- Huntress – The Huntress defines her mobility by being shifty, whereas the Loader focuses on reaching large distances. Her strafe and blink skills essentially force her to keep moving while clearing opponent waves. Her defence is bolstered by her playstyle, as she can dart in and out of danger with ease. The Huntress has a simplistic playstyle, but it allows the player’s skill to decide the flow of a run.
- Mercenary – Using the Mercenary is a lot of fun. His arsenal includes melee strikes, rapid movement, and a variety of talents. Being a melee may appear to be a disadvantage in this game, but the Mercenary has numerous weapons to counter. To compensate for his melee approach, he possesses strong HP recovery. When he comes close to enemies, he is always at risk, but if you know what you’re doing, you won’t get hit nearly as much.
- MUL-T – MUL-T is designed to be a primary tank survivor, with the highest initial HP, HP growth, and armour stats in the game. If evasion and placement aren’t your thing, MUL-T might be the character for you. Because of its massive bulk, MUL-T is a safe survivor for newbies. You won’t have to worry about minor enemies attacking you, allowing you to concentrate on offence.
B Tier
- Engineer – Engineers must be more strategic in their approach to the game. His abilities include constructing turrets throughout the map that deal damage for him. He may also summon a shield to defend himself from incoming attacks. However, attackers can quickly break his shields late in the game, thus players must learn turret placement to optimise their damage output.
- Rex – Rex is dangerous since he relies on depleting his own health to inflict huge damage on his foes. When employing this survivor, finding the correct combination of offence and survival is crucial. Rex is designed for players who believe they have a firm grasp on the game’s mechanics. He can be tricky to deal with at first, especially at the start of a run, but as you collect more items, he quickly turns into a wrecking machine.
C Tier
- Acrid – While it’s tempting to play Acrid as a melee character, it’s actually better as a Long range survivor. Poison foes, switch to a different mob, and finish off those with low health. Rinse and repeat as needed. Because the Acrid lacks the proper defensive weapons to tackle opponent waves head-on, this playstyle is crucial. Despite this, it’s a pretty simple survivor that can constantly assist you in runs.
D Tier
- Commando – Because Commando is your first character, it’s no surprise that he’s in the lowest tier. His playstyle is extremely simple, requiring players to do nothing but shoot, dodge, and shoot again. His abilities are also lacking, consisting of simple gun-based assaults that deliver respectable damage.
