Roger Federer vs Hubert Hurkacz is a quarter-final match at Wimbledon 2021 and here is the preview, live stream details, weather forecast and more
Roger Federer moved into his 18th Grand Slam quarter-final with a straight sets win over Italian Lorenzo Sonego on Monday. He won 7-5, 6-4, 6-2, in a dominating display to win his 105th match at the All England Tennis Club.
Federer made history, becoming the oldest men’s player to reach a Grand Slam quarterfinal in 44 years. He turns 40 in August and is still looking good as he approaches the final few stages of the tournament. The 39-year-old won 12 of his 15 first-serve points and 11 of 15 net points.
Federer spoke about his form going into the last 8 saying: (h/t Bleacher Report)
“The same thing goes with tournaments, playing back-to-back tournaments or playing every second week. All that stuff, when you’re young, you don’t ask yourself the question. But when you’re me, with the year I had, it’s all question marks all over the place. You have to prove it again to yourself that you can actually do it.
“I was willing to take losses for the sake of information, just to be out there, get the body in shape for hopefully when Wimbledon comes around that I can actually wake up in the morning and feel all right, that I can still go out and play five sets.”
The Swiss is now set to face Pole Hubert Hurkacz after he upset World No. 2 Daniil Medvedev 2-6 7-6 (7-2) 3-6 6-3 6-3, to make his debut quarter-final appearance at Wimbledon. The 14th seed is now in the best form of his life having won the ATP 1000 event in Miami this season.
The two have only faced each other once in their careers. The meeting came at Indian Wells in 2019, with Federer winning in straight sets.
This is the first time that the pair are going to meet at a Grand Slam.

The likelihood for rain tomorrow is high at 70%, which means we could see a possible rain delay at the tournament. The Wimbledon 2021 weather forecast adds that temperature looks to be around 21 degree Celsius. Wind is at 23 km/h.
The second week expects more rainfall which could see rain curtailed matches towards the final stages of the men’s and women’s draws.
More crowds are also going to enter in for the final rounds of the tournament, which will make the atmosphere in the Centre Court even more exciting.
Federer is on a rampant run despite his lack of match fitness, but will be wary of his high unforced error count in the first two rounds of the tournament. His scare in the first round against Adrian Mannarino, just goes to show how the Swiss is still far from his best despite his impressive showing against Sonego.
Hurkacz will take inspiration from the fact that he has had a highly successful this year. He became the first Polish player to win an ATP Masters 1000 title in 2021. He has shown that he can be a dangerous threat in any form of the game.
The battle will be a good one with Federer having to be at his best throughout the match.
Prediction: Hurkacz in 4 sets
