Chelsea v Malmo Report: Chelsea Match report
Chelsea breeze into the next round of the Europa League with a comfortable 3-0 win over Malmo in the second leg of the last-32 tie at Stamford Bridge. Olivier Giroud, Ross Barkley and Callum Hudson-Odoi scored the goals to send the Blues into the draw for the last-16 on a 5-1 aggregate score. After a first half that lacked spark from the home side, they improved after the break and scored all the three goals. Giroud opened the scoring in the 55th minute with a close-range finish after some good work by Willian. 17 minutes from time, Rasmus Bengtsson was given the second yellow card by the referee after he mistimed a challenge on Emerson at the edge of the box. Barkley stepped up to take the resultant free-kick and placed it at the top left corner to put Chelsea into cruise on the night. Hudson-Odoi added the icing on the cake with a driving run from the right and firing a shot into the back of the net six minutes from time. Malmo never had a chance to really test Chelsea’s back-up keeper Willy Caballero. They seldom seemed confident about overhauling the 1-2 deficit. All in all, a comfortable night’s work for Maurizio Sarri’s men, who now will be turning their attention towards a big game on Sunday against Manchester City – the Carabao Cup final. Here’s how their fans reacted after this game though:Let’s just thank Sarri for letting us see RLC, CHO, CHRISTENSEN AND AMPADU ON THE PITCH TONIGHT

The bad thing is though Hudson Odoi, Emerson, Christensen probably still won’t play on Sunday 🙄

We don’t have a crisis we just have a team selection problem, the hunger and energy in our young lads is incredible.

Well that wraps this one up, it’s true Malmo might not be the biggest scalp we’ve ever taken, but at times like these, almost any scalp will help with the revival. It’s rather like everyone at the club needed this one to be a good one!
