Here is the rumor roundup for February 2, 2022, including Shane McMahon heat, WrestleMania plans, Randy Orton and more
These are all the latest rumors in pro-wrestling, which are currently afloat. So let’s have a look the rumor roundup from WWE.
According to Ringside News, Shane McMahon recently returned to WWE television at the 2022 Royal Rumble but was also one of the show’s producers.
It has been reported that there is a lot of heat on Shane after his role as a lead writer and producer of the Men’s Royal Rumble match. It has also been said that this was “the talk of WWE today.”
A creative team member opened about Shane who tried to “openly bury Jamie Noble” and tried to book the Rumble around himself.” Not only that, McMahon was convincing, and he put himself over other wrestlers and was even fighting with people to do so.
“Shane fighting everyone, booking himself to be one of the last one’s out, eliminating KO, and just standing toe-to-toe with everyone has the entire locker room really angry.”
Another comment revealed that,
“When Shane is more impactful in the Rumble than Big E or Owens, even people who don’t normally complain are complaining loudly today.”
It has been said that his father only gave him this position that is now turned to backfire.
According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Shane McMahon was supposed to be in the Elimination Chamber match in Saudi Arabia, leading to a feud with Seth Rollins and a game WrestleMania 38.
This is what Meltzer said,
“Shane McMahon was going to be in the Chamber and set up a feud with Seth Rollins for WrestleMania, so I don’t know if that was going to be the championship match [at Mania], but whether it is or it isn’t, that was changed. So I don’t know how that relates to Shane McMahon at WrestleMania. This was gonna be the step to that.” (H/t Wrestling news)
It is still unclear if the plans for Shane have changed or not, but as of now, he is not listed as a part of the Chamber match.
Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Live reported that Randy Orton is “going to be gone for a little while. I don’t know why. I don’t know when he’ll be back.”
It has been reported that WWE considered having Shane O’Mac take on Bobby Lashley at WrestleMania before the Day 1 show. Still, as time passed, WWE didn’t go with the plan and instead went with another creative strategy for the championship.
“A rumor is gaining steam that Shane McMahon might battle Lashley at WrestleMania. We were told this is not the current plan, but “this was an idea floated around before Day 1.” However, “after Day 1, this idea was switched to something else,” reported RSN.
Ringside News has also clarified that these rumors aren’t true.
WWE Superstar Asuka did not appear at the Royal Rumble despite WWE planning to show up. According to Fightful Select, WWE wanted to bring in Asuka and Kairi Sane for the women’s Rumble match, but this idea was dropped as they felt that they were not physically fit and the timing wasn’t right.
“Regarding several of the names discussed, we’re told that Asuka and Kairi Sane’s names were brought up, but WWE didn’t feel Asuka was physically ready and that it was easier to bring in other talents than Kairi Sane.”
The Japanese star has been missing from WWE television since July 2021 due to an injury.
