On Wednesday, the Lakers were well aimed towards an easy victory against the previously winless Oklahoma City Thunder. It must be kept in mind that the LA Lakers were playing without LeBron James. Notably, James was out for the night with a sore right ankle.

The Lakers were on cruise control, leading by as many as 26 points when disaster struck. The second half of the game was punishing for the Lakers and they completely collapsed. In a shocking turn of events, LA Lakers lost against the Oklahoma City Thunder, 123-115.

After the first quarter, the Lakers were leading the game 41-19. In the second quarter, the Lakers had a 26-point lead, when the score was 70-44.

However, the Thunder put up a valiant effort and slowly came back into the game. Heading into half-time, the Thunder pulled the deficit to just 16 points.

The third quarter was massive for the Thunder. In the third period, OKC scored 41 points while the Lakers just managed to score 23.

In the fourth quarter, OKC built up an eight-point lead early in the period and kept control through the early minutes. The Lakers tried to fight back and were nearly successful but messed up big time in the final seconds of the game. Carmelo Anthony air-balled a wide-open three-pointer which could have equalized the game. From there on, The Thunder secured their historic comeback win.

Westbrook had an ugly altercation with Thunder’s Darius Bazley. In the dying minutes of the game, Bazley managed to steal the ball and put on a monster dunk. This provoked Westbrook and a fight broke between the two players.

Following the scuffle, the on-court and bench players of both teams came to the rescue. To quickly manage the situation, the NBA referees slapped Westbrook with his second technical foul of the game. After receiving his second technical, Westbrook was promptly ejected from the game.
