After Denver’s 27-24 loss to the Chiefs on Sunday, Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson broke down in tears as he spoke about his teammates’ support during a 4-12 season.
Wilson expressed his gratitude to his teammates for standing up for him after Sunday’s loss, a game in which he completed 26 of 38 passes for 222 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He also added two rushing touchdowns.
To avoid a similar ending to this season, the team will need to make a number of changes going forward in the NFL in 2023. The now 4-12 Denver Broncos, who came into this season with playoffs expectations after acquiring the nine-time Pro Bowler via trade from the Seattle Seahawks, have had a terrible season.
The Wilson-led Broncos, lost 11 of their last 13 games and scored the fewest points in the league. On Christmas Day, Wilson completed only 15 of his 27 attempts while tossing three interceptions.
After the Denver Broncos’ 51-14 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Christmas Day, amid a claim that the quarterback’s “attitude” had angered teammates, wideouts Jerry Jeudy and KJ Hamler openly defended him.
Wilson expressed gratification for his teammates’ support and how much it meant to him during his tough time. He added that he respected them all for their dedication and hard work.
The receivers Jerry Jeudy and KJ Hamler as well as the offensive lineman Garrett Bolles were among those players.
“It meant the world to me because I give it my all every day. I don’t know anything less. So, I’m grateful for these guys because they’ve worked their butts off” Russell Wilson stated.
Additionally, he stated that all he wanted to do was find a method to assist his team in winning. And He is confident that his team will get beyond all of those challenges”.
Wilson reportedly had his own office in the Broncos’ locker room, adding yet another dimension to the well-documented estrangement from the squad, which prompted reactions from Jeudy and Hamler. Wideout Courtland Sutton also retweeted Jeudy’s remarks.
Jerry Rosburg, the Broncos’ interim head coach, referred to the criticism as “a bunch of garbage.” Additionally, he claims that Russell will start for the Broncos in their home finale against the Los Angeles Chargers next Thursday.
