Rusty Wallace Car Collections
Rusty Wallace owned a plethora of cars and drove many vehicles. His iconic Pontiac vehicle sponsored by Kodiak brought him success as he won the 1989 Cup Series for the Blue Max Racing team. He also competed with a luxury Ford Thunderbird for Penske Racing. Wallace had sponsors from Miller Genuine Draft for his Ford vehicles.
Wallace also won the IROC 1991 with #12 Dodge Daytona. In the NASCAR Busch Series, Rusty Wallace drove cars including Buick, Chevrolet, Pontiac, Dodge, Ford, and Oldsmobile. Wallace also drove these cars for all Daytona 500 races, but he couldn’t win the championship. He owns the #2 Pontiac Midnight edition and a Diecast model as well. In his only Craftsman Truck Series, Rusty Wallace competed for the Penske Racing team in the #22 Ford vehicles.
Rusty Wallace Car Accidents
Rusty Wallace had experienced many accidents during his NASCAR days, but he was lucky to survive every crash. Wallace’s major crash came at the 1988 Daytona 500 event where his car flipped and went airborne. In the 1993 season, Wallace’s ford was hit by multiple cars in a race at Talladega. Wallace’s car was damaged and he couldn’t win the race.
During the 2001 Daytona 500 practice season, Wallace again suffered a crash in his Miller Lite Ford vehicle. In 1996, Wallace participated in the 1996 Bristol Night race. Wallace’s car crossed the 180mph speed and he also lost control which resulted in a crash. He escaped with minor injuries and came back for the next season.
Rusty Wallace Car Numbers
Rusty Wallace was cautious about his car numbers. Racers believe in numbers apart from their talent. Wallace started with #16 Chevrolet in the Cup series before moving to #98, #2, #88, and #72. Between the 1986 to 1990 Cup Series seasons, Wallace drove #27 Pontiac for the Blue Max Racing which was sponsored by Kodiak. He also won the 1989 cup series with the same number.
After the 1990 season, Wallace joined the Penske Racing team and chose #2 vehicles with a sponsor from Miller Genuine Draft. Rusty Wallace’s numbers in the NASCAR Busch Series were #66, #64, #72, #2, #90, and #21.
