In 2013, Ryan Newman was involved in a crash at Dover Motor Speedway where he collided with Jimmie Johnson near the pit road. Newman was again involved in a crash in the same year with David Gilliland. In 2009, Newman participated in the AMP Energy 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. His car collided with Kevin Harvick’s vehicle in Turn 3. Newman’s car flipped over Harvick’s roof, but he survived.
In the 2020 Daytona 500, Newman was involved in a big accident. During the final lap, his car was hit by Ryan Blaney’s vehicle and hit the outside wall. Newman was driving at 200 mph and his car went airborne before flipping. Newman was taken to the hospital and suffered a head injury. The bruised brain injury took him out of action for a few months. Reports revealed Ryan Newman suffered memory loss and he was almost in a medically induced coma.
