Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina will face Leolia Jeanjean in the quarter-finals of the Saint-Malo tournament
Elina Svitolina has come to this tournament in France following an early first-round exit from the Madrid Open. The former World No.3 has been impressive so far at this WTA 125 tournament.
She began her campaign with a comprehensive 7-5, 6-1 victory against Greece’s Despina Papamichail. In the second round, she pulled off an upset against fourth seed Ysaline Bonaventure. Svitolina will be aiming to go deep into the tournament, and she is well on the course to do so.
Leolia Jeanjean’s form coming into the match
Jeanjean is currently ranked World No.108 in women’s singles and is a regular on the ITF circuit. She has had a pretty rough year so far, suffering early exits from all the tournaments she participated in. The 27-year-old is desperate for a good showing on her home turf in France and she has made a good start to the tournament.
The French player started her campaign with a convincing straight sets win over compatriot Alice Robbe in the first round. She followed it up with a commendable 6-3, 6-1 victory against No.5 seed Lucia Bronzetti in the next round. Jeanjean will look to continue her good run on home soil and go deep into the tournament.

Head-to-head and Predictions
Svitolina and Jeanjean have never played each other before on the WTA tour. This is the first professional head-to-head clash between the two players. While Svitolina is clearly the more experienced player, she has been out of action for a long time and Jeanjean will look to take advantage of that. It is a tough match to call as an intense encounter is on the cards. We are predicting a win in three sets for Elina Svitolina.
