Sami Zayn Talks WWE Keeping RAW & SmackDown Rosters Separate

Published by

WWE Superstar Sami Zayn recently spoke to Mike Jones’ podcast for DC 101. The former NXT Champion spoke about a litany of topics, including the recent WWE Draft, where the ‘Wildcard’ rule was officially scrapped.

“…for me personally, I prefer the distinction”

In terms of keeping the brands separate Zayn stated that“for me personally, I prefer the distinction. I prefer SmackDown staying there and RAW staying there. I think it is a good way for people to get more opportunities to really shine. I’m for the interweaving of the brands maybe once or twice a year like we are doing now with Survivor Series. It makes it very interesting when you see it here and there.”

The ‘Artist’

Zayn’s ‘friend’ Shinsuke Nakamura will be appearing tonight at the Survivor Series PPV event on WWE Network. The ‘Artist’ will be part of a triple threat match featuring NXT North American Champion Roderick Strong and United States Champion AJ Styles.

Wildcard Rule

WWE had introduced the ‘Wildcard’ rule earlier this year as a way of helping flagging ratings for RAW and SmackDown. The ‘rule’ gave Superstars such as Roman Reigns the opportunity to appear on both Monday and Tuesday nights. As previously mentioned this was scrapped following the Draft back in October.

You can check out the full card for tonight’s WWE Survivor Series PPV event here. The two main events of the card will see WWE Champion Brock Lesnar take on Rey Mysterio in a No Holds Barred match. Daniel Bryan will also be attempting to win the Universal Championship when he takes on ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt.
