Predicted Manchester City XI to face Brighton: Who starts for Cityzens?

Pep Guardiola’s men have made an amazing start to their Premier League campaign and Manchester City currently sit 2nd in the standings with 16 points from their first six games. With 19 goals from 6 games, the Sky Blues have the best scoring record in the top-flight so far.

City registered an emphatic 5-0 win over Cardiff City last weekend and continued their good run of form into the League Cup. Despite making a lot of changes to the first-team line-up, they came away with a relatively easy 3-1 victory against Oxford United.

Manchester City will welcome Brighton and Hove Albion to the Etihad on Saturday and the home team will once again be the strong favourites to bag all three points.

Predicted Manchester City XI to face Brighton

Manager: Pep Guardiola

Formation: 4-3-3

Ederson Moraes (GK)

The Brazilian has been in top form this season and should replace Arijanet Muric between the sticks.

Kyle Walker (RB)

The English international has been solid at the back this season and scored a screamer against Newcastle earlier in the campaign. He should replace Danilo in the starting XI.

Aymeric Laporte (CB)

The Frenchman has been City’s first-choice centre-back in the current season and he should replace Vincent Kompany, who looked a little slow with his reactions in the League Cup tie.

Nicolas Otamendi (CB)

The Argentine centre-back has been a dominating figure in the heart of City’s defence and is yet to concede a goal after he was brought back to the line-up. He should retain his place.

Fabian Delph (LB)

The English international has done a decent job in the absence of Benjamin Mendy and should start on Saturday ahead of Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Fernandinho (CDM)

The Brazilian has been impressive in his usual role deep in the midfield and he should be replacing John Stones, who played as a makeshift defensive midfielder in the League Cup tie.

Bernardo Silva (RAM)

He has been one of City’s standout performers of the season and Guardiola should hand him a start ahead of David Silva, who hasn’t been at the top of his game lately.

Ilkay Gundogan (LAM)

The German put up a magnificent show in the midfield against Cardiff and contributed with a goal and an assist. He must start on Saturday.

Raheem Sterling (RW)

Sterling was a lively presence in the final third against Cardiff and has had a good season so far. He must replace Riyad Mahrez in the starting line-up.
