Predicted Wolverhampton Wanderers XI to face Chelsea in the Premier League

Wolverhampton Wanderers suffered a shock 2-1 defeat at the hands of Cardiff City last week in the Premier League and slipped to 12th in the Premier League standings.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have lost five out of their last six games in the Premier League and they are going to face another uphill battle when they play host to Chelsea on Wednesday night.

Chelsea got their campaign back on track with a 2-0 win over Fulham in the west London derby after a 3-1 humbling at the hands of Spurs and Maurizio Sarri’s men will be the outright favourites to bag all three points from this one.

Team News

Wolves will be without the services of their star midfielder Ruben Neves who is suspended for having picked up five yellow cards. Jonny Otto Castro is ruled out with a knee ligament injury.

Predicted XI

1. Rui Patricio (GK)

His error of judgement gifted Cardiff with a goal but he has otherwise been a reliable presence between the sticks.

2. Ryan Bennett (RCB)

The Englishman has been in fone form this season and should replace Roman Saiss who played in the last game against Cardiff.

3. Conor Coady (CB)

He has been a standout figure for Wolves at the back and they will need him to be at the top of his game on Wednesday to keep Chelsea at bay.

4. Willy Boly (LCB)

Hardly to blame for the goals in the last game and has helped the team with some brave and fearless defending this season.

5. Ruben Vinagre (LWB)

The Portuguese youngster did not make much of an impact in the last game and he will be expected to put up a better show against Chelsea.

6. Joao Moutinho (RCM)

The veteran hasn’t quite been at the top of his game in recent weeks and Wolves will need him to rise to the occasion in the mid-week clash to cover for the absence of Ruben Neves.

7. Leander Dendoncker (LCM)

The absence of Neves might open the door for the Belgian to get his first start in the Premier League.

8. Matt Doherty (RWB)

The Irishman showed good awareness to find the net in the last game and Wolves will need him to continue his good work.

9. Helder Costa (RW)

He showed plenty of endeavour in the last game but Wolves will need better end product from him against Chelsea.

10. Ivan Cavaleiro (LW)

Adama Traore was pretty wasteful against Cardiff so Nuno Santo must hand the Portuguese a start for this one.

11. Raul Jimenez (ST)

He failed to make an impact in a No.10 role in the last game and he would be better of playing as a target man up front.
