Saquon Barkley Early Life & Education
Saquon Barkley was born in the Bronx, New York. Barkley was born on February 9, 1997, to Tonya Johnson and Alibay Barkley. In addition, Saquan is one of his parents’ five kids. Saquan Barkley is not the only athlete in his family, which is not unexpected. His father, Alibay Barkley, was a brilliant boxer who had a career cut short by injuries.
Saquan’s younger brother, Alibay Jr., took part in baseball for his high school and was selected by the Los Angeles Angels. Iran Barkley, who is also his uncle, is a three-time award-winning boxer—demonstrating that Barkley is naturally athletic.
Despite being a Bronx native, he was raised in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. His father had a difficult upbringing. After being accused of having a gun and turning to drugs again, Johnson decided it would be best to move their family to Pennsylvania.
In Pennsylvania’s Whitehall Township, Saquon attended Whitehall High School. From his sophomore to senior years of high school, he took part on the team.

Saquon Barkley College life
During his stay at the institution, Barkley played for Penn State for three seasons.
His outstanding performance during his first year at Penn State garnered him the “Big Ten Network-Freshman of the Year” honor. He gained 115 yards on the ground in his second game as a freshman, and then 195 in his third. Sadly, he was injured and had to miss the other two games. He only missed a few games his freshman year and still rushed for 1,076 yards. D.J. Dozier’s freshman record was broken by this one.
Naturally, the second year turned out to be even more successful. Despite the highs and lows, Barkley made it to the Maxwell Award semifinals. The Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year went to him as well.
During his sophomore year, he carried for 1,496 yards.
It is impossible to ignore the amount of effort Barkley puts forth during a game. He was selected “Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week” despite playing poorly a few times. With 137 yards and two touchdowns on the ground in his final college game, Barkley helped lead Penn State to a victory in the Fiesta Bowl.
He carried for 1,271 yards in his junior year. Saquon decided to leave college after three years to enter the 2018 NFL Draft. He left college, but he made a commitment to return and finish his degree with his parents, coach, and mother.
NFL Career
It must have been challenging for him to decide to drop out of college. However, it has all been worthwhile since Barkley of the New York Giants selected him in the 2018 NFL Draft. On July 22, 2018, Barkley agreed to a four-year contract after being selected. He received $15 million right away as part of a $31.2 million agreement that included a $20.76 million signing bonus.
2018 season
Barkley set a record for the Giants with 14 catches, although his first two weeks in the NFL were losses. In Week 11, Barkley ran for 142 yards and three touchdowns, breaking his previous record. As a result, the Giants defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He also received the NFC Offensive Player of the Week award.
He won accolades for his efforts throughout his debut season, including NFL Rookie of the Year, Pepsi Rookie of the Year, and FedEx Ground NFL Players of the Year. He was also chosen for the PFWA All-Rookie Team, which honors the best rookies at each position. Finally, he has picked teams for the Associated Press’s All-Rookie honor.
2019 season
Barkley’s rookie campaign in 2018 was a success. His teammates also chose him to be one of the seven team captains for the 2019 season. He damaged his high ankle during his third game against Tampa Bay and didn’t play again until the seventh week. He ran for 72 yards during his impressive comeback. But more crucially, the second week saw his worst unlucky incident. He suffered a serious knee injury.
His ACL had been torn, and the MRI revealed that he would need surgery. No athlete is immune to injuries, including Barkley. But because he was forced to miss the remainder of the season, this was a major setback.
