Predicted Sheffield United XI to face Stoke City in the Championship
Sheffield United confirmed promotion to the Premier League for the 2018-19 season with a comfortable 2-0 victory over already-relegated Ipswich Town in the Championship last week and they will once again be the outright favourites when they make the trip to the bet365 Stadium to face Stoke City on Sunday.
The Blades have plenty to play for heading into the final game of the season, knowing that a victory at Stoke would help them claim silverware if Norwich City lose to Aston Villa.
Stoke currently sit 16th in the standings and Nathan Jones’ side will be looking to end a rather disappointing season on a high after a draw against Millwall last week.
Team News
Chris Wilder has no significant injury worries ahead of the final game of the season away at Stoke and the manager is likely to have all the players at his disposal for selection.
Formation: 3-4-1-2
Manager: Chris Wilder
Predicted XI
1. Dean Henderson (GK)
The Man United loanee has done a terrific job for the Blades between the sticks and earned yet another clean sheet last week against Ipswich.
2. Chris Basham (LCB)
He did a wonderful job defensively against Ipswich last week and there is no reason why he should be benched for this one.
3. John Egan (CB)
He has been as solid as a rock at the back for Sheffield this season and will undoubtedly start on Sunday against Stoke.
4. Jack O’Connell (RCB)
The former England U19 international claimed a goal and an assist in the last game and he will be in high spirits heading into the clash on Sunday.
5. Enda Stevens (LWB)
The Irishman has been a hugely influential figure at left wing-back for the Blades this season and arguably an undisputed starter under Wilder.
6. George Baldock (RWB)
The Englishman has contributed a lot with his tireless running up and down the pitch for the Blades.
7. Oliver Norwood (CM)
What a signing he has proved to be for Sheffield United this season! He has been a key figure alongside Fleck in the middle of the park and has dictated proceedings with authority.
8. John Fleck (CM)
His dogged work-rate in the midfield has been a key factor behind Sheffield’s promotion-winning season.
9. Mark Duffy (CAM)
The veteran playmaker has bagged 6 goals and 6 assists in the Championship this season and Sheffield United will once again rely on him to spark that creativity in the attacking third on Sunday.
10. Scott Hogan (ST)
The Aston Villa loanee will be high on confidence after getting his name on the scoresheet against Ipswich in his previous outing.
