Predicted Liverpool XI to face Cardiff City in the Premier League

Liverpool romped home with an emphatic 4-0 scoreline against Red Star Belgrade in their Champions League fixture on Wednesday.

The Reds are yet to be beaten in the Premier League and picked up all three points against Huddersfield Town last weekend courtesy of a solitary strike from Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool are right up there with the table toppers Manchester City and Jurgen Klopp’s men will be the strong favourites to bag all three points when Cardiff City pay them a visit on Saturday.

Cardiff hasn’t had too much to cheer about so far in the Premier League but picked up their first win against Fulham last weekend. The 4-2 victory not only helped them climb out of the relegation zone but will also do a world of good to their confidence ahead of a tough tie against Liverpool away from home.

Team News

Liverpool are likely to be without the services of Naby Keita and Jordan Henderson in central midfield, both of whom are out with hamstring injuries.

Jurgen Klopp is likely to field the same eleven that played in the Champions League as he won’t be too keen to risk Keita in a match where Liverpool are such strong favourites.

Injuries to Henderson and Keita might open the door for Fabinho to get a rare start in the Premier League.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Jurgen Klopp

Predicted XI

Alisson (GK)

The Brazilian has made some world-class saves this term in the Premier League and should retain his position between the sticks.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB)

The youngster has taken his game to a new level this season. He has been solid at the back and has added a lot of value to the attack with his pacy overlapping runs.

Put in a calm and composed display in the Champions League and will be expected to do the same on Saturday.

Virgil van Dijk (CB)

The Dutchman has been the mainstay of Liverpool’s defence for quite some time now; more of an automatic selection for Klopp.

Andrew Robertson (LB)

Assisted Firmino for the opening goal in the Champions League tie against Red Star and looked good with his positioning at the back.

Georginio Wijnaldum (CDM)

He has been a key figure for the Reds in the midfield. Winning back possession, comfortable with the ball at his feet and tidy with his passing- all you can expect from a central midfielder.

Fabinho (CDM)

Henderson and Keita are not likely to feature due to injuries and that means Fabinho can get his opportunity to impress.

Xherdan Shaqiri (RW)

He has played an important role in Liverpool’s campaign so far and has been a lively presence in the final third. Showed some delightful touches in the Champions League tie and will be expected to excel on Saturday.

Roberto Firmino (CAM)

He didn’t look particularly comfortable in a No.10 role in the early stages of the game in the Champions League but slowly adapted to his new position and got himself a goal.
