Crystal Palace re-signed Bakary Sako from West Brom in January, with the Malian forward joining the south Londoners on a short-term deal until the end of the season.
Since returning to Crystal Palace, Sako has played just once in the Premier League. He has had some injury problems and will be a free agent again in four months’ time. That said, Sheffield United must snap up the former Mali international in the summer.
United have the division’s one of the best strikers in Billy Sharp and he has been ably supported by David McGoldrick. Whether they’ll be able to replicate this form hereafter cannot be predicted. If the Blades are to do well upon promotion, they’ll need quality additions in the summer.
Signing Bakary Sako on a potential free transfer in the summer would certainly represent a coup for Wilder and company.
The Malian’s career has been plagued by injuries when fully fit, he has the pace, power, strength and dynamism to hurt the opposition. He is a winger by trade but is also adept at leading the line for his team when required.
The 30-year-old has good height and physical strength which make him a threat in the box. To go with his pace and skills, Sako is also capable of holding on to the ball and linking up with his teammates to create chances in the final third.

The former Wolves man is also a good finisher in front of goal, whilst being an extremely tireless worker off the ball will make him an ideal fit for Wilder’s Blades.
With his quality in front of goal and experience, Sako would be a hugely inspirational signing for Sheffield United. On a free transfer in the summer, he can prove to be a massive coup for the Blades.
