Shirley Moreno is best known for being the wife of UFC’s first Mexican champion Brandon Moreno, and she has been by his side for quite a long time

At the UFC 263 pre-fight press conference title challenger Brandon Moreno asked UFC bossman Dana White whether he’s a superstar. White replied by saying that a victory to win the title, will make him a household name inside the UFC. And he wasn’t wrong. Brandon Moreno became the first Mexican champion in the most glorious way, and became the UFC’s new poster boy in South America.

Linking up with the likes of boxing champion Canelo Alvarez, Moreno’s modest, congenial personality has won everyone’s heart.  Through vicissitudes and uncertainties, and joyous, delightful times, Moreno’s wife Shirley Moreno, has been with him through all, standing like a pillar of strength.

Who is Brandon Moreno’s wife, Shirley Moreno?

Brandon Moreno has been married to his wife Shirley for over 10 years. Like him, she also hails from Mexico. The couple has three daughters together. Their oldest daughter, Maddie, was born in 2014.

Maddie is often seen indulging in gymnastics training. She’s been a competitive gymnast since 2019 as per Moreno’s Instagram account. Their second daughter Megan was born in 2018. She had to battle a few health issues early on in her life, but has come out of it healthy now. Their third daughter Morgan was born in 2021.

Moreno has managed to maintain complete privacy about his wife, and family. In late 2018, Moreno was cut by the UFC. Shirley stood rock solid by Moreno even during these troubled times, and wept tears of joy when he became the flyweight champion after re-signing with the promotion.

Moreno was born and raised in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, in a modest family with a piñata business. At the age of twelve, he wanted to lose weight so his mother enrolled him in the local Entram Gym where he started training mixed martial arts. Despite earlier intentions to attend law school and become a lawyer, Moreno decided to focus solely on his mixed martial arts career.

UFC 277 featured a rematch between top ranked flyweights, Brandon Moreno and Kai Kara-France from UFC 245, which saw Moreno win the interim flyweight title. Brandon Moreno also switched his training camp to Glory MMA Fitness, in pursuit of excellence and proper grip on multi-faceted martial arts discipline.

Moreno debuted in the UFC while his season of The Ultimate Fighter was still airing. He faced Louis Smolka at UFC Fight Night: Lineker vs. Dodson on October 1, 2016. Moreno won the fight via submission in the first round. The win also earned Moreno his first Performance of the Night bonus award. Following a run of three victories and two losses, Moreno would be cut by the promotion when talks of shutting down the flyweight division was gaining momentum.
