Arsenal vs Napoli Ratings: Arsenal Player Ratings + Twitter Reaction

Arsenal were comfortable 2-0 winners against Carlo Ancelotti’s Napoli side in their Europa League quarterfinal first leg tie at the Emirates stadium. Two goals in the first half gave them a rather unassailable lead and a good result to take to Naples in a week’s time.

Underestimating the Serie A side could end up being a massive mistake though, as given the quality of players they possess, the Gunners must take real care to ensure that they make full use of every opportunity they’re given on their trip to Naples in order to secure progress to the final stages of the Europa League.

Here are the Arsenal Player Ratings:

Petr Cech 7

The Czech veteran was decent with the ball at his feet and wasn’t really put through too much trouble on the night.

Sokratis Papastathopoulous 7

The Greek centre-half put up an imposing display in the centre of the Arsenal defence and showed good composure.

Laurent Koscielny 7

Showed the quality of an Arsenal captain on the night and commandeered the Gunners back-line to perfection.

Nacho Monreal 7

Wasn’t awe-inspiring but did look assured on the ball. He also did well neutralise Lorenzo Insigne at times.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles 8

The youngster had an amazing game at the Emirates as he even grabbed himself an assist in the process.

Lucas Torreira 8

The Uruguayan was extremely lucky to see his low shot take a deflection into the net but did superbly overall.

Aaron Ramsey

Aaron Ramsey 9

Juventus is clearly not on Ramsey’s mind as he controlled the pace of the game and scored the opening goal.

Sead Kolasinac 7

Didn’t offer too many good crosses but did well in the defensive phase keeping the threat of Jose Callejon away.

Mesut Ozil 8

It would be a bit far-fetched to say that Ozil is back to his best but he display sparks of his brilliance.

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang 6

The Gabonese forward didn’t really set the world on fire on the night and must improve in the coming weeks.

Alexandre Lacazette 5

The Frenchman wasn’t given a moment of comfort by Kalidou Koulibaly and this showed in his performance.

Substitutes

Henrikh Mkhitaryan 6

Came on and showed good pace down the right flank as the Napoli defenders began to wear down.

Had little to no impact in an attacking sense and still has the potential to offer a lot more.
