Shroud Joins Sentinels! Yes, you heard it right. You will now see Shroud playing VALORANT with Sentinels. Read all the details below.
VALORANT’s most clouted franchise may be just getting started. Major streamer Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek has signed a deal to play for Sentinels in VALORANT. Shroud has announced that he will join Sentinels’ VALORANT team after years of being absent from competitive FPS. A simple video announcement was posted on Twitter announcing the acquisition. The announcement, which did not provide any additional details, stunned the VALORANT community, as well as all the Esports fans.
Known in the CSGO community as Shroud, he played for Cloud9 during its peak, when the roster was at its best. The VALORANT community was shocked on Friday when the Sentinels announced the former Counter-Strike professional had joined their squad. They were in need of a fifth player after Hunter “SicK” Mims announced that he would be taking a lengthy leave of absence for personal reasons.
Since Sentinels failed to win events in the VCT, so they did not have a chance to compete at Champions. Instead, they will have to fight through the North America LCQ of the VCT. In a shocking announcement, Sentinels announced that shroud will join the squad, his first competitive squad since leaving Counter-Strike in 2018. Since leaving the pro game, Shroud has become one of the most popular streamers on Twitch.
Thousands flocked to Sentinels’ Twitter to see Shroud’s announcement, but many wondered if the news was true or a joke. Shroud went on stream shortly after the announcement to confirm the news was true and explain how he got signed. Shroud said he agreed to be put in as Sentinels fifth and was asked to try out. But the roster change wasn’t just questioned by fans. At the time when the opportunity arose, Shroud said Sentinels thought he was trolling.

According to Shroud, he will be filling in for the Last Chance Qualifiers only in August. The move does not seem to have a long-term impact on the Sentinels roster. It is unclear whether Shahzeb “ShahZam” Khan will play at Champions if Sentinels qualify. As a result, there may be more changes in the future depending on their LCQ results.
No matter how the outcome plays out, the VALORANT scene will gain a significant boost in outside interest. Despite plenty of uncertainty entering the event, the Sentinels LCQ matches have now become a must-watch for the fans.
Signing Shroud raised Sentinels’ profile dramatically during Riot’s evaluation period for their upcoming partner system. It doesn’t matter how good they actually play, Sentinels are bringing in a globally recognized player to boost the brand image. In the end, it would bring more attention and eyes to their organization than simply winning games and qualifying for championships.
The reason is still unclear why Shroud joins Sentinels, but it will definitely exciting for the fans around the world.
