With the new Premier League season just a few weeks away from kick-off, all the clubs including Manchester United have been on a signing spree of late. According to the report from Mirror, Jose Mourinho has set his eyes on Barcelona centre-back Yerry Mina. The Portuguese manager was impressed with the 23-year-old Colombians performance in the recently concluded FIFA World Cup and wants to bring him to Old Trafford.
Yerry Mina has been on high demand with Lyon already having made a €30 million bid for him. The Red Devils should make a move immediately as Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers are also keen to sign the Colombian trailblazer as well.
In a recent interview, Mourinho stated that he would further sign two more players before the summer window closes on August 9. Now let us take a look at the reasons why Mina will be an awesome signing for Barcelona.
Despite being a centre-back, Yerry Mina has always been amongst the goals whether he is playing for the country or club. The young lad has scored 22 goals in club football and an impressive six goals from 16 outings for Colombia. He became a household name following his heroics in the recently concluded FIFA World Cup 2018.
The youngster’s stunning equalizer against England in the last 16 clash is one of the best goals of the tournament. The centre-back found the back of the net thrice in Russia, making his a joint record holder for the most number of goals scored by a defender in a single world cup.
The 23-year-old is one of those rare young players who has a lot of experience playing in the toughest leagues in the world. Mina already has over 200 games under his belt in all competitions. The youngster also played a crucial role in Brazilian heavyweights Palmeiras’ Serie A title triumph in 2016.
Mina has all the qualities that make him one of the most sought-after defenders in the world. His passing is precise and often shows his class when it comes to aerial duels and tackling skills. He has always been considered as an opponents nightmare on the green lush. This is one of the reasons why Spanish football giants Barcelona signed him in on a five-year deal earlier this year.

Verdict
The presence of Samuel Umtiti and Gerard Pique in defence has made it impossible for Yerry Mina to crack into the first team. His move to Manchester United will only make it a win-win situation for Manchester United, Barcelona and Yerry Mina.
