Predicted Everton XI to face Newcastle United in the Premier League

Everton put in a spirited performance against Liverpool in the Merseyside derby on Sunday but the Toffees were denied a point, thanks to Divock Origi’s 96th-minute winner.

Marco Silva’s men have been in impressive form in the Premier League in recent weeks, winning five out of their last eight games. The Toffees currently sit 6th in the standings and they will be strong favourites to claim all three points when they play host to Newcastle United on Wednesday night.

Newcastle gave themselves some hope of avoiding relegation with three consecutive wins but the Magpies lost momentum once again with a 3-0 loss against West Ham and they will be up against it once again when they make the trip to Goodison Park for the mid-week clash.

Team News

James McCarthy is yet to regain match fitness and is unlikely to feature on Wednesday. Apart from that, Marco Silva doesn’t have any injuries or suspensions to contend with and he will have the entire squad of players at his disposal for selection.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Marco Silva

Predicted XI

1. Jordan Pickford (GK)

He has been a reliable presence between the sticks all season and made some fantastic saves in the last game but that bizarre moment in injury-time might still be playing on his mind.

2. Seamus Coleman (RB)

He did a good job both in terms of attack and defence against Liverpool.

3. Yerry Mina (CB)

The Colombian put in a solid shift in the heart of the defence against Liverpool and Silva should continue to hand him starts to allow him to settle down.

4. Michael Keane (CB)

His strength and aerial ability are valuable assets to Everton’s backline and he will be high on confidence after doing well in recent weeks.

5. Lucas Digne (LB)

The Frenchman has always been a lively presence down the left, solid in defence and has contributed a lot to the attack with his overlapping runs and crosses.

6. Idrissa Gana Gueye (CDM)

He has added that solidity to Everton’s midfield with his energy, passing, tackling and tireless running.

7. Andre Gomes (CDM)

The Portuguese international has been at the centre of everything that Everton have achieved in recent weeks, controlling the tempo of the game with his flawless passing and immaculate distribution.

8. Ademola Lookman (RW)

The youngster has shown a lot of energy and purpose coming off the bench in the last few games and Silva should hand him a start ahead of the former Arsenal man.

9. Bernard (LW)

He has added that much-needed impetus to the attack with his pace, guile and vision but Everton will need better end product from him.

10. Gylfi Sigurdsson (CAM)

He is the heartbeat of Everton’s attack and they will need him to rise to the occasion once again on Wednesday.
