Sister Abigail is here – 3 Hits and 3 misses from The Horror Show at Extreme Rules

The Horror Show at Extreme Rules had some gruesome matches and here are the hits and misses from the PPV

There was a lot said about some of the matches at Extreme Rules 2020. The name of the WWE PPV was changed a couple of times too, but two clashes stood out for varying reasons.

Seth Rollins vs Rey Mysterio was an Eye for an eye match, where you had to take your opponent’s eye out.

The other was the Wyatt Swamp Fight between Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman. While the first one took place in the PC, the second one was shot in a swamp, as expected, both delivered.

However, the PPV also had some flaws, and here are the hits and misses from the Horror Show at Extreme Rules.

Misses

1) Getting the short-end of the draw

Apollo Crews vs MVP was set for the United States Championship. Crews had been resurgent after winning the title but it seemed he had met his match against MVP.

However, the title clash never took place with Crews failing to pass a fitness test. MVP claimed he became the champion and celebrated with the new title, but this made no sense.

If Crews really failed a test, WWE could have scrapped the match or put in a replacement. WWE has made Crews look bad in the past, his knee injury taking him out of Money in the Bank, and they did it again.

2) Misty eyes for the wrong person

Sasha Banks vs Asuka for the Raw Women’s Title was an incredible match where both women were taken to the edge.

However, the ending turned out to be a joke after Asuka sprayed the green mist onto the referee’s eyes. There wasn’t a problem with Bayley taking advantage and hitting Asuka with the title or Banks trying to get a quick pin.

But, how in the world could Bayley become the referee, do a quick count and run away with the title for Banks?

This made no sense, and frankly, WWE needs to get some of this finishing right. They could have ensured more heat for the heels if a new referee came out and counted three after Bayley had hit Asuka.

However, we now have Banks and Bayley as double champions and the party has begun.

3) The joke’s on you, Rey

Speaking of Bayley ‘Two Belts’, she was also in action and needed help from Banks to get the win over Cross.

While she gloated how great she was after the match, she decided to have some fun at the expense of Rey Mysterio.

Bayley shared a couple of rather tasteless jokes after Rey lost his eye to Seth Rollins. While she is supposed to be someone who gets under the skin, this really wasn’t needed, even if she is the SmackDown Women’s Champion and one-half of the Tag Team Champions.

Hits

1) The Banks Statement

Banks was at her best in this PPV as she stole the title (maybe) from Asuka and helped her friend retain hers.

The Boss was confident of becoming a double champion ahead of Extreme Rules, and she believes she did it.

Her match against Asuka was great but the way she helped Bayley was fantastic too. There weren’t any question marks about Bayley’s result and that is something that WWE should have done for Banks too.

Nevertheless, The Boss shone on the PPV, and it will be interesting to see what WWE does next between her and Asuka.

2) Making the world blind

While Mysterio lost the clash against Rollins and even an eye, credit must be given to the pair for putting up a great performance.

Rollins and Mysterio used all sorts of weapons in hopes of taking out an eye. From broken sticks to chairs to pliers, everything was used to gain an advantage.

While the ending was a little gruesome, it was expected due to the stipulation in the match. WWE kept things open by saying that Mysterio’s vision could be saved.

3) Is that you? Sister Abigail?

The Swamp Fight was another marvellous cinematic production from WWE as Bray and Strowman put in a couple of great performances.

However, one of the most shocking moments came when Sister Abigail took the former of Alexa Bliss. This was done to mess around with Strowman and WWE actually used an old story in this clash.

Bliss and Strowman were romantically linked when they were a tag team. However, it was great to see Sister Abigail use her supernatural powers to play mind games with Strowman.
