Skip Bayless has doubts about LeBron James taking up an executive role for the new Las Vegas team that he is planning to own.
LeBron James is often regarded as one of the best players in the game right now, as well as one of the greatest basketball players of all time. Over a career spanning two decades, LeBron has won everything there is to win in the NBA – including four NBA Championships, four MVP awards, and multiple All-Star selections – which has ensured quite a strong and loyal fanbase.
However, just as with every top tier athlete, LeBron also has a fair share of detractors. One of LeBron’s biggest detractors is none other than NBA analyst Skip Bayless, who is notorious for criticizing or doubting LeBron at the first chance he gets. And it turns out that Bayless has gladly taken up another chance to be skeptical of James when talking about his ownership credentials.
In the latest episode of the talk show Skip and Shannon: Undisputed, Skip spoke about why he feels that LeBron James would not be a great General Manager. LeBron recently confirmed it himself that he has intentions of buying the Las Vegas team that would come into the team as part of an NBA extension draft, but Bayless does not think James could be a great GM.
Why does Skip not think that James could be a great GM?
On the latest episode of Undisputed, Skip argued though he thinks James can be a great owner, he does not think he could be a great GM.
When speaking on the topic whether James would be a better owner than Michael Jordan – who famously owned the Washington Wizards – Skip said that though he thinks James can be a great owner, he does not think he could be a great GM. Skip said: “I can’t tell you for a fact, but history would tell you that LeBron would not be a great GM.”
Skip added; “The greater the player, the harder it is to know who can play because none of them are gonna be as good as you. The odds are, if he owns the (Vegas) team for 20 years, there will never be a player as good or better than him.”
Bayless also added that he thinks that LeBron’s inclination will be towards handling the basketball operations instead of an executive role.
