Bayley is the current SmackDown Women’s champion yet there is no guarantee on who she will face at WrestleMania 36
WWE is gearing up for WrestleMania 36, which is just over a month away, however, some problems remain.
The main events are coming into place but the biggest wrestling event of the year needs a lot of quality fights.
Brock Lesnar takes on Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship. That should be a cracker of a fight given McIntyre’s win at the Royal Rumble and him decimating Lesnar recently.
Similarly, Goldberg vs Roman Reigns should be good too, even though Reigns didn’t do much to deserve the shot against the WWE Universal title.
The surprise clash is seeing Women’s Royal Rumble winner Charlotte face Rhea Ripley for the NXT Women’s title.
The other title confirmed for WrestleMania is Becky Lynch as she defends the Raw Women’s crowd against the winner of an Elimination Chamber match.
However, nothing is certain for the SmackDown Women’s champion, Bayley. It is going to be almost a year since she picked up the title and despite some quality defences of the title, WWE hasn’t been able to find the right rival yet.
Evans or Naomi?
Lacey Evans has been in and around the champion Bayley and Sasha Banks for a couple of months.
It seemed that the Southern Belle would have been the one to fight the champion, however, she seems to be in a brawl with Banks.
Banks and Bayley have also targeted Evans in recent weeks, but the surprise was seeing Naomi become the No.1 contender for the title ahead of 2020 Super Showdown.
She couldn’t pick up the crown at Super Showdown but is teaming up with Evans to face Bayley and Banks.
The lack of putting a proper rival for Bayley’s title is a big hole at the moment. SmackDown does have some quality wrestlers such as Carmella and Alexa Bliss, but for some reason, both of them haven’t been in the title run for a while.
That could change in the coming weeks but there is barely a month before WrestleMania hits.
Of course, Elimination Chamber is just a couple of days away and there could be something put up for the SmackDown Women’s title.
However, that would feel a little rushed as the Naomi vs Bayley rivalry hasn’t really kicked on.
Banks vs Bayley would be a great clash, but the best friends seem to be inseparable at the moment.
WWE have made some questionable decisions in recent months, and it will be interesting to see how things develop.
They have two excellent clashes for the other women champions at WrestleMania and Bayley deserves one too.
She is one of the most talented stars on the roster and WrestleMania is another chance for her to showcase her skills.
