Snowpiercer will soon enter its 4th season and the production is expected to start filming soon. Snowpeircer starring Daveed Diggs, Jennifer Connelly, Alison Wright, Iddo Goldberg Rowan Blanchard Roberto Urbina, and more has become one of the highest-rated Sci-fi drama series.
Warner Bros. Discovery network recently made the decision to remove the show from their schedule and is actively searching for a home for it.
Snowpiercer producers at TNT are blessed with an unique opportunity: planning their fourth and final season ahead. While not unprecedented in modern television, this allows them to wrap up the story their way and provide audiences with a satisfying conclusion.
That is exactly their intention with the series’ third and final season, set to premiere soon. When filming commences for these episodes, their production team is committed to making sure they complete in a manner worthy of its name. They already took steps towards this end by notifying fans on Twitter that filming had begun!
Snowpiercer star Daveed Diggs revealed in a video posted by TNT that the final installment in their series would air shortly. Additionally, members of its cast including Jennifer Connelly (Melanie Cavill), Iddo Goldberg, Kate McGuinness Rowan Blanchard Mickey Sumner Sheila Vand and Roberto Urbina as well as new cast members Michael Aronov and MCU star Clark Gregg joined them as well.
Diggs’ video also indicates that the third and final season will be even grander and better than its predecessors, not only because it brings an end to the series but also by setting up potential franchise opportunities – as he promises, the ride only gets bigger, Snowpiercerier with this season!
Fans of TNT’s series were left reeling with dismay when it was announced that season four would not continue, reportedly due to cost-cutting measures and the cast being freed up for other work opportunities.
Although fans were disappointed to learn of TNT’s cancellation, there remains hope for its revival elsewhere. Netflix has an established history of picking up cancelled shows like Manifest and Stranger Things to give them second lives; as well as reports that TNT is shopping it around to other networks.
After three seasons on TNT, it appears as though Snowpiercer will never see its fourth season after recent cancellation by Warner Bros. Discovery due to their desire for tax write-offs. Ironically enough, this decision may simply reflect their desire to reduce costs rather than any desire to address class warfare or climate change.
Snowpiercer had just concluded its third season and announced plans for its fourth. Production had started on new episodes, featuring cast members like Clark Gregg and Michael Aronov who would join in future seasons of Snowpiercer’s story that follows humanity in post-apocalyptic future, living aboard an ever-moving train travelling along Earth’s surface. Wilford died during season 3 after being killed by T-Rexes; consequently, fans could expect that new season would introduce “new mysteries”.
Unfortunately, TNT’s CEO and president Marty Adelstein and president Becky Clements released a statement indicating their inability to pursue the project and thanking its writers, actors, crew and crew while adding that they have been working to find another network willing to host Season 4. They were kind enough to offer praise for them all and to offer assistance in finding an alternative home for Season 4;
But without another network to pick it up, the series may never see light of day again – an unfortunate turn for such a highly-acclaimed and beloved series, but numbers simply did not justify its continuation. Averaged only 0.14 ratings in 18-49 demographic and 647,000 live+same day viewership ratings in its third season was down 42% for demo ratings and 28% in viewership when compared with second season performance.
Hopes are high that this setback for the series will only be temporary and that its producers can find a home for its final season shortly. Otherwise, it would be unfortunate if such an impactful show were forced to close due to financial considerations; after all it put its own stamp on Bong Joon-ho’s 2013 film and French graphic novel source material with such talent as this show. Nonetheless, this decision shows just how crucial investment in high-quality scripted original programming that engages viewers remains; something other cable and streaming companies should take note of.
