The United Kingdom is still mourning the demise of Queen Elizabeth II. Former World No. 5 Eugenie Bouchard also expressed her grief on the unfortunate incident.

Eugenie Bouchard is currently in Chennai, India, where she is playing in the Chennai Open. She received a wild card to the singles competition and has done well in her first couple of matches, beating the likes of Joanne Zuger and Karman Kaur Thandi to progress to the quarterfinals.

This is just the third tournament she is playing on her comeback trail after being sidelined for over a year due to a shoulder injury. Bouchard has been having a good time in India, both on the court and off it. She was recently seen wearing a saree, a traditional Indian attire for women. She wore a green-colored saree and rocked the look as was evident from the photos she posted on her Instagram handle.

During a chat with Prakash Amritraj on the Tennis Channel, the 28-year-old spoke about the sudden demise of Queen Elizabeth II.

“So the queen right? Kind of our queen too. So sad but I mean what a great… It should be more of a celebration.”

The team of Eugenie Bouchard and Belgium’s Yanina Wickmayer have made it to the doubles quarterfinals at the Chennai Open.

Bouchard and Wickmayer will lock horns with the team of Anastasia Gasanova and Oksana Selekhmeteva up next in the quarterfinals.

The Canadian-Belgian duo defeated Katarzyna Kawa and Han Xinyun in the first round in straight sets 6-2, 6-4 to progress to the next stage.
